Harley Motor on SD Frame ?
Has anyone done, or know of someone who did, or know if the following can be done, and how:
Since Surface Drives are manufactured with motors whose peak horsepower rating ranges around 35-40, many of us have opted to modify our surface drives to gain more horsepower. In doing so, the durability of the modded engine is compromised, resulting in broken cylinder heads, broken roller rockers, etc., etc., just to name a few.
My thought is (and I know I am not discovering something new, nor am I attempting to take credit for the idea) to utilize a Harley-Davidson Motor Cycle engine instead of modifying stock engines.
I am merely throwing a Harley-Davidson engine out there is an example. I know there are other types/makes/models of motor cycle engines that could fit the bill.
Again, has anyone tried this? What type/make/model engine could/would be used to do this, if it can even be done? Someone/anyone educate me as to the possibility of this being done, and to those who may have done it, what I would need to do this?
I recently had stage III mods one to my 35 hp GDSD. I used it all season this year without any issues (knock on wood). I just keep hearing guys having durability issues with modded motors. If can change out engines to gain the horsepower that I get with my modded motor, and not compromise durability, then I’m open to finding out how.
Thanks.

It's called the "Mud Viper" and it is currently still in the experimental stage. Do a search on it. Marty aka basinlover, is still working out a few kinks.
