Thinking of an 1854 SWV with stock 35 mb with plans for mikuni and exhaust. Just wondering about speeds and performance with this boat and motor? thanks

Re: Reviews on 1854 excel swv with stock 35 mb
I have an excel 1854 swv with a MB 4500 black death and on the maiden voyage we had three guys 210,215 and 240. We were in about 5 inches of water and we did 26.3 mph. I think if we would have shifted the weight around and played with the trim a little more we could have hit 27mph. The boat is an awesome all around boat. I would not recommened this boat if you are just going to be in the marsh in 3-4 inches of water the whole time because it is so big and heavy. If you plan on going into some deeper water then this is the boat for you. We bought it because it is also our fishing boat for big water and we use it for carp shooting. I would recommend this boat for the best all around boat. Hope this helps.

I had a 1854 Midwest and it was a tank. Stock 35 would not cut it, I had a 45mag MB. That motor would haul the mail........Go for a mod'd motor you'll be happier!
