 toyota tacomas
Well my ok s-10 layed down on me the other day and don't want to put the money in it to fix it... been thinking about a tacoma. Always have liked them just never looked into getting one. Just wondering if anyone has one and his they haul. Mainly just my boat and lawnmower and firewood. Any help would be appreciated.

Getcha one! I have an 06 V-6 crew cab. Good, strong truck! I pull my big bowfishing boat with it across state lines all the time. Just change the oil every now and then. Once this one craps out in about 200K more miles, I'm gonna buy... a Tacoma

 Re: toyota tacomas
i had a 07 4 door 4 wd i thought i liked it until i started going on long trips,, It pulls good but is terrable on fuel.. Pulling a boat with the truck bed loaded down every bump you hit comes trough your spine.. got me a z71 and realize that the tacoma was the worst decision i made as for buying trucks!!

 Re: toyota tacomas
My dads dog hunting Toyota finally crapped out, 385,000 miles was a good life for a truck that spent half it's life in mud.

 Re: toyota tacomas
Its between a silverado and a tacoma right now. I don't really make long trips and not trying to spend a ton of money. Really trying to get better gas mileage than the s-10 was getting me because im going back to school in the fall. Gonna go look tomorrow and see what I can find. Thanks for yalls input.

I drive an 06 Tacoma. I love it but it does suck gas when towing my boat.

 Re: toyota tacomas
got an '02 tacoma crew cab V6 4x4. tough little truck. 170K miles on it and never had an issue (knock on wood). it's ok on the fuel until you haul something. it pulls my big arse boat just fine and it has never been stuck in the mud. i think it floats. i drive from baton rouge to metry every friggin day and it is a shitty ride for long hauls. my next truck will be a GMC. tired of the mini truck, ready to go back to a big boy truck.
by the way, toyotas are probably more american than most domestic companies now. everyone else is being made in places like mexico.

I have a Tundra and couldn't be happier. If you are looking to save a little try looking at used. I bought my '08 in 2010 and it was about $12,000 difference in price from the new ones.
Just throwing that out there in case you didn't already think of it.

I've got a 97 witha 4 cylinder. It has 251k on it. Sucks on gas when pulling my boat, but great other wise. I am in need of a bigger truck to haul stuff.

 Re: toyota tacomas
I bought an 01 Tacoma and traded it in for the 06 F-150 I have now. I put 124k miles on it during those 5 years and all it ever needed was a battery and tires. The truck was flawless and I would buy one before you go with a Colorado or Ranger. Now, in comfort and ride quality, the F-150 is light years ahead of the Tacoma and so far I've put 87k miles on my F-150 and only had an issue with the front hub not locking in when the 4x4 was engaged.
Personally between those two, I'd go with a 4 door Silverado and call it a day. Two of my hunting buddies have them and they seem like a solid truck also.

 Re: toyota tacomas
Well after 2 weeks of looking I put the purchase on a 2011chevy single cab 4x4...I really liked it and with debates and my work discount I got it for under 20k....felt pretty good about it and shouldn't have to have another vehicle for a long time. Thanks everyone on the input

 Re: toyota tacomas
Keep it out of the mud and it will be fine lol. My 04 2500 hates mud it eats wheel bearings like crazy and the front end wont keep alignment for nothing.

 Re: toyota tacomas
I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra w/5.7L motor. It is without a doubt, the most luxurious truck I have ever owned. However, the gas mileage is terrible if driving in the 70 MPH range, and when I tow my airboat or gatortail, I think it gets negative gas mileage. With the gas prices escalating, I don't know if I will be able to afford it much longer. Oh, by the way, it is 4WD.

 Re: toyota tacomas
Have you guys seen any of the new F-150 with the 6.5L engine? I just found out today that for upgraded the engine and from what I've read, the new engine is a beast with 385hp and 405 lbs of torque.

 Re: toyota tacomas
I had a '02 Tundra I traded in with 205k miles - did the regular maintenance and never had any other issues. I now have a 2008 Tundra Crew Max with the 4.7L - gets about 4mpg better than the 5.7L.
The Tacoma is an awesome truck, just not enough room for me. The top of my head rested against the ceiling during the test drive. There are more Tacoma's on the road than any other mid-size truck so that should tell you something.

 Re: toyota tacomas
By far Toyota has a well earned reputation. I told my neighbor that the new Toyotas might kill you if they run away on you but at least you'll never break down.
