 what motor for my boat
I have a 1644 gatortrax with round chines. I built the transom up to make it high & put float pods on it as well. ( i hunt alot of creeks/rivers & got tired of swamping the ass end with water on them step banks) I run a 31 m.b. but plan on going to a 36 prodrive or a 35 gatortail. I know there both good motors but do not know would be best for this boat. Thanks for any advise.

Re: what motor for my boat
Seeing as you had a MB and are acustom to the longer output shaft I'd go with Gator-Tail, pro-drive is great don't get me wrong but if your looking for something to trim down as deep as the MB did you'll want a Gator-Tail

Re: what motor for my boat
I have a 1750HD Gator Trax with a MB 5500 and I'm happy with the set up. With a 5500 you'll easily do 30+ on your boat. Why didn't you just get your boat with a hunt deck when you got it or did you buy it used?

Re: what motor for my boat
It was a used boat when i bought it. But i did put the float pods on it. My concern with the pods are what motor would get the best turning radious with out hiten the pods. The shorter prodrive or gatortail?

Re: what motor for my boat
If you are anywhere near a dealer for any of the motors they should let you mount a motor to your boat and test drive to see if you like it. That would be my suggestion.

Re: what motor for my boat
Leave the MB on the back, cut the pods off so people don't laugh at you, and sell the whole package to the next sucker. Go demo PD and GT rigs and pick one. Start from scratch, cut your losses.

Re: what motor for my boat
I beleave i will just keep the gatortrax, it does what i need it to do. I called every dealer i could find in east tx. & no one has a 36 prodrive for me to check out & make sure it will work on my boat. So if anyone knows where i can check one out let me know. Thanks
