My dad runs a short transom pd and I've used it a good bit. It is not very comfortable to drive standing up unless you are not very tall. It is definately easier to drive it sitting down.

I had a short transom 32 and now have a long 36. I didn't have any inconvenience with driving the 32 sitting or standing nor do I with my 36. I don't think there is but a 2 or 3 inch difference, but I could be wrong. Either way, I personally don't think you would have trouble with it...assuming I understand your question.

I'm 5'7" and no prob for me.....unless i need to be standing to see past mound of dekes or trying to turn tight corners i am usually seated. Mines a tall transom because there is more room for motor to kick up when i hit a submerged pallet or some other debris leftover from hurricane ikes tidal surge.

Depends on the load in the boat and how you are trimmed. I stand up to drive quite a bit, but most of the time have to slouch over. I'm just a lil over 6'. Also be careful how hard you grip the throttle when standing up. If you hit something and have a death grip and the throttle, your gonna do a cartwheel. The scars don't lie.

At 6'1 I need a tall to be comfortable. I drive standing alot. When driving Mudholes short I have to kinda hunch over and its uncomfortable for me. I guess if you are a little vertically impared it will be fine.

it's definitely more comfortable for shorter people to drive a short shaft PD. No one will be suprised, but I drove mine standing up no problem. One thing that will help tremendously... shim the tiller a little bit. I think I had 2 washer under the back, and 4 under the front. Helped more than one might think. I'm sure at some point you'll be wanting to buy a bigger motor, so no need to waste all the time and money converting it to a tall transom.

I am 6'1" and had a short transom 36 PD. I found I had to slouch while standing / driving and did not particularly like it. Ever since I got a tall transom boat and converted the PD to tall transom unit and hung it on the new hull I have been a happy camper.

The 27 should do that stock if it's running good. I would not suggest wasting money trying to Jew more HP out of a 27, save your dimes, buy a 36, and be done with it.
