looking to buy a mini 29 with kohler engine or 23 with the vanguard who knows anything about them suggestions?

Only go with a mini lite if ya already have a lil light weight boat, that ya just cant part with. If ya want a good, light weight mm, the 23 LA Special only weighs about 15-20 lbs more & comes with power trim & clutch standard. Btw, ya can't get power trim on a mini lite, but ya can add a clutch for $300.

i got a 23 mini and does ok on a 1542 alweld. As far as motors go . the 23 is a tough SOB i got one that has sank to the bottom of a lake stayed there for two days and i pulled it back out drained it, pulled the carb, flushed it with diesel new plugs and filters. Fired up every morning we went hunting this year without useing the choke. So as far as the motor goes its a beast.

i dont have a GTR. I am using a mud buddy mini. It aint mine but i have more money in it than the owner so it might as well be mine

mod v , ribbed, or flat? those are big factors it will run ok on the ribbed, pretty good on the flat, but not so hot on the mod v. check with team camo he used to run a 27 mini on a g3 boat not sure what size?

thanx 4 the info I think ill go w/ the 23 la special it has a longer shaft doesnt it and I knew about the clutch and trim im gonna be runnin it on a ribbed flat bottom 15-54 alumaweld for now but probably get a mud boat next yr about a 16-54 i like em wide for stability not so much foor the shallow draft

ive got a 23 mini lite, 4 years now. love it its on a rivited 14x48 and runs good. no problems with the motor or boat. im in a shallow rocky river no mud or veg. but for open shallow water its been flawless.

I bought a used 18 mini, threw a new Honda 24 on it, left the lower gear reduction and put a Godevil 12x12 prop and made a new brace(12 inch prop will not fit under cavitation plate). I been running for a year. no problems with it whatsoever, only thing is Godevil prop vibrates, but thats not a frame or engine problem. only thing I broke was the spring for the quick trim release, no biggie just stuck spring back and bent it to secure it.

trying to stay as light as possible would love to have a 27 0r 29 but may settle for the 23 la i think the 23 is about 75 pounds heavier than a mini 27 i know the trim and clutch adds weight on the 23 la wonder if that is the difference
