 Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
There's been quite a few discussions about whether or not to run an electric fuel pump lately. Lets settle it for awhile. Vote if you are or are not running an electric fuel pump.

 Re: Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
Just because someone is running an e-pump doesn't mean it's necessary. As long as you don't have any air leaks and your stock pump is functioning properly, you do not need one. People adding them (myself included) were too lazy to track down the real problem...

 Re: Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
I hear ya on the being too lazy to track down the problem. I've only had problems one time with my rig so far. I removed the quick connect fuel fitting and that fixed it for me. I just figured I'd see who is running what. Most airboats run both mechanical and electric fuel pumps. One of the pluses with it is more dependability. I had the mechanical fuel pump on an airboat I was running go out one time. Fuel was pouring out of the fuel pump. I plugged it up and turned on the electric fuel pump. Made it back to the trailer with no problems. I have one of the low pressure electric fuel pumps that I bought years ago to use as a fuel transfer pump. Thought I might hook it up for the reason above.

 Re: Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
i have two LTs and i epump them both. one is a 16hp briggs and the other a 9hp lifan. I think most people who convert to e pump its not that its being lazy but why have a system that can fail with the slightest leak or not being able to use quick connects. i'm not sure on the bigger engines, but pulse pumps are just not designed to pull up, they are mostly parallel setups on mowers and such. Also i like doing it just for the fun of it. my 9hp was gravity fed but now i can hook up and run a 6 gallon tank instead of stopping and pouring gas is the gallon tank that was on top of it.
But!!.... its all just personal pref man.... if ya run em' good, if ya dont, than thats good too.

 Re: Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
I never needed one until I moded my stock carb. As soon as I did these mods, the the engine would not pull enough gas to the engine. I have had one ever since. I have since added a Mikuni though, and I am not convinced I still need it, but I am still using today.

 Re: Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
I had to insall an electric fuel pump on my rig after my first ride in it. I recently intalled a mikuni carb and have disconnected the wires from it. It seems to be running fine now with out it. I did install alligator clips on the wires ,for quick reconnect, just incase I run into a problem though.

 Re: Electric Fuel Pumps Poll
Never needed one, over 300hrs with 20' fuel lines to the tank in the front.
