 trolling motor suggestions?
Hey guys I just bought my boat last year and being an 18x60 I wanted to see what size trolling motor you guys had on yours and what yall recommend? I was thinking of getting a 55lb thrust.. but just dont know how effective that would be on a big boat like that. Help me out a bit on some suggestions guys!

 Re: trolling motor suggestions?
The 55 will pull that boat with no problems. I had one on a 1760 and it worked just fine. If you go 12 volt, just remember the battery life on the 55 will be significantly less than if you had a smaller mid 30 pound thrust.

55# salt water minn kota on an 1860. Runs all day long and pulls good. That's all you need.

 Re: trolling motor suggestions?
Love my 12v minnkota 55lb thrust... If you can carry the weight & do extended periods of using your trolling motor go with a 24v system

 Re: trolling motor suggestions?
Go to the motorguide and minn kota website and look up service center locations. Sometimes they have reconditioned units that they will sell you. You'll save a little money but forget about any warranty.

 Re: trolling motor suggestions?
It all depends on where you fish.
If you stay on points and main lake wind will cause you to need more power same with current.
If you stay with 12 volt I'd stick to the 54 # options. I got a 17' 8" gator trax tank and it will run all day on one battery. Having said that out of the wind I stay in 2nd gear and increasing wind 4 gear. I've only had to run 5th gear when moving between spots.

 Re: trolling motor suggestions?
Well all im going to be doing is doing some bass fishing in cuts and coves and chasing reds in the marsh..the river that runs here isn't real big on current. The only time it moves is with the tidal movent lol...just trying to find the best cheap trolling motor that would work best for something like what im describing. Guess they were right when u buy a boat it stands for ( B-ring , O-n, A-nother, T-housand) cuz all it is just more money to spend
