 us oil
the gylcol line that runs by my house needs work, an a bp man and the contractors are working on it. i stop by one day and starrt talking to tthe bp man. he tells me he doesnt work for the oil part of bp only the pipeline part of bp. he really doesnt know about oil. he does allow the following:
he says that in the middle east they have removed over 1/2 of there oil reserves from the ground. they are on the back side of production. here in the us we havent even scratched the surface of our oil. continued that we havent even identified all the oil we have.
now that being said and if its true, we (the world) have been using oil for about 100 years (at least at any real quanity). we are using it at a rate faster than years past. agree?
we have used up 1/2 the oil in the middle east in 100 years that means , to me, that the middle east has maybe 50-75 years oil left (at best 100 years).
when thats gone who will have all the oil?
the US and we will control alot of the worlds supply. now there are options on oil but because the system in the middle east is in place and they are on the back side we are letting them dry it out as fast as we can. that will leave the us with the biggest share of the worlds oil.
YOU TALKING ABOUT WORLD CONTROL. if we make it that long?

 Re: us oil
We have plenty of oil! (us). I doubt that the reserves in the middle east are half gone. But een if they are there is plenty here, they just won't drill it! Offshore Cali has a ton of oil that would make the state money and make our gas prices go way down! Also some in the gulf that we haven't even tapped into yet. We can be self dependent and have lower prices but if we don't stop borrowing trillions of dollars from other countries, they will own our oil.

 Re: us oil
The oil in the Middle East isn't almost half way gone, their fields are just half the size of the fields we have here, and ours haven't been produced.

 Re: us oil
I am currently taking a class on oil and natural gas drilling and the push right now for oil is in Montana. They do drill offshore in California it's just that they put so many restrictions on them it is not cost efficient for them go drill there. They technology is very advanced in how they drill it. I always assumed they drilled straight down but now they are actually bending drill pipe to 90 degree angles and reaching further in the reserves. Weston are they talking about speeding the production process or drilling? What interests me the most is that on blowout preventers they have a blade that can cut 9 and 5/8 drill pipe in half in a matter of seconds. I am curious how much hydraulic pressure is behind that

 Re: us oil
They frac the shale to allow the oil to pool just like they do for NG wells. Lots of new technology here today, to many restrictions by the Government and the Tree huggers. I been doing inspections on a plant that makes a plastic coated frac sand specifically for that purpose. CA has alot of natural resources but if you condsider they will let farmers go broke so a Forking field mouse or minnow doesn't become extinct you can see what they have to deal with.

 Re: us oil
All I know is what gave our economy the final blow to get us in this recession was gas at over $4 a gallon in 2008 and now we are heading there again.
