 Cavitation Plate on a 36PD
Has anyone ever removed there cavitation plate on there PD unit? I was wondering becuase i noticed that in the mud it holds back mud from your prop creating a pocket. Gator-tails dont have em... i was just wonderin.

Not to mention your prop would hit your boat if you trim down far enough. It was just a thought.

Re: Cavitation Plate on a 36PD
Hey, if you do decide to do it, let me know I'd like to come watch! Just messing with ya, its a valid question but like Rambeaux said the cavitation plate keeps the prop from hitting the back/bottom of the boat. Now what I did and it helped, was cut the vertical plate that actually holds the cavitation plate on (in front of the prop). increasing the gap between the plate and the prop will allow you to get more mud in. I don't have a true pic of mine, but I used this pic as a reference. I cut mine a little father back then what the picture shows and I didn't cut a hole out.
