 Re: Dguidry' Cypress Skiff Photo
maybe it's not for everyone. i'm sure the majority of ppl on here could tear it up in a few minutes of run time but i think it's pretty cool. it's not something you see everyday.....not around here anyhow.

Nice indeed. I ran wooden mudboats for years. Stump jumpin and all. No problem what so ever.
Not all of us go out and try to destroy our vessels.

I dont TRY to That just happens to be where the ducks are
I would not mind having a old wooden put put boat just to run up and down the bayou. I have always been fascinated by those things

 Re: Dguidry' Cypress Skiff Photo
My great grandpaw used to build wooden boats. He built bateaus for the family and built his own 40 foot shrimp boat. I can remember some of the smaller boats he built. There is deffinately alot more work and skill that goes into a wooden boat than an aluminum one. I built a couple small wooden boats when I was younger jus to see if I could. They came out ok, but Id rather deal with aluminum. The fitting on a wood boat has to be precise. You cant just weld up a crack on wood. In Patterson LA, we have the Cypress Sawmill Festival right around the corner and they have some fellas that have home made wooden mudboats that they show. They have them old Lockwood Ash motors in em. Those things are pretty awesome. One ole boys is all cypress with clear coat on it. Talk about pretty.
