Post Getting from the trailer to the river
Hello all, I have quite the dilemma I am currently trying to solve.

The only real access point I have found to the river where it isn't too steep and a boat can be pushed in is through a winding trail - too narrow to back a trailer down but wide enough to carry my boat through. The problem is that the boat is quite heavy, add a long tail to it and it's probably impossible to carry by hand with equipment even with two people.

So my friends, any solutions?

How big is the boat, how many hp is your motor?

We used to launch a small rig down a steep hill - by tieing a long rope
to the transom then to the truck - then one guy would slowly back
the truck as the other sorta steered and guided the boat down - just
reverse the process to come uphill by tieing to the bow....

Was pretty hard on the hull though - but lots of fun....
Got to a sweet fishin hole - just put everything including the beer,
bullets, and bait in the boat goin both ways.... We were using a 14ft
semi-vee jon and 6hp outboard....

Is there any way the boat could fit in the back of the truck empty without motor?

The truck isn't going to fit through the path any better than a trailer is..

Slide it off the trailer and roll it down with some 3" pipe

We were going to use caster wheels, it's just finding a frame to support the boat and what not on the cheap

3 viable solutions so far.

4 wheeler & drag it
Small "trailer" made from 2x4's & caster or bicycle tires
4" PVC pipe cut in 4-5' lengths & roll it

Of course if the trailer will fit down the trail, but can't be backed down with a truck, you could get a trailer dolly & use that to push/pull it thru the trail.

X2 on the trailer dolly. ive never used one, but seems like its be nice for those situations. if moneys tight ya gotta do whatya gotta do to get done whatya wanna get done. it might be hard to push that boat down that trail and launch it, but somehow or another it can be done

Trailer itself is too wide to fit.. And too heavy to manually pull back up the trail. We'll surely have to fabricate something, I was just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar situation.

I am not saying you should buy a Seitech Dolly, they are pretty proud of their stuff $$$ but I thought the drawing at the top might give you some ideas. The are aluminum with a nylon strap as support aft. Real simple.
