 Portable Bait Livewells?
So I need a bait live well that I can just throw in the boat when I go fishing but not wanting to spend 200+ bucks on one.
What are my options ?

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
I haven't used em in probally 10 years but from what I remember they lasted about 7-8 hours on brand new batteries. They might tell you on page the expected battery life

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
Here is mine. An Igloo Ice Cube with wheels. One minute its an ice chest and the next a live well. I also have a couple hangers on a 120qt for bigger fish so I can just swap the pumps from one to the other. 2-D batteries in each and they last multiple trips.

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
Here's what you need. Grab yourself a cooler, I know you already own one. Then grab one of these... www.Pro-o2.com I use their system to keep my redfish alive for live weigh-ins they are by far the best way to keep fish alive couple this with an intake recirculating livewell and you have the best of both worlds. With this system you will need to exchange the water should it become polluted. This oxygen system is like crack for the fish they come out of the water full of life. The setup comes with a tank, regulator, hose & ceramic air stone. The regulator has many different settings of which I only use the first two allowing limited air to slowly get into the cooler where I keep shrimp or my fish. Air Stone: Here's the whole thing:

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
You do know we don't try to keep our fish alive in LA. They go on ice and then into the grease. We only keep the bait alive.

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
I have a bilge pump with the suction cups on the side of the ice chest and the output pipe above the waterline, it pumps up and when it falls back down it airates it.

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
i used to have a 30ish gallon plastic drum set up with a bilge pump. had that clear tubing ziptied to the top of the barrel with holes drilled in it. with the pump turned on water would spray out of that tube giving it good circulation and aeration. top of barrel was cut out an hinged for access, a plug at the bottom to drain water. very nice setup

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
I use the Marine Metals 10 gallon bucket aerator and like it a lot. I'm in the process of figuring out a way to change out the water for those really hot days or a weekend at the camp. Also have two old Marine Metal Bubble Boxes that I can't seem to kill.

 Re: Portable Bait Livewells?
keep some ice in a zip lock to throw in to the live well to keep the water temps down.
