Yes we will launch out f the sportsman and the shooting should be pretty damn good around that time. I think the 25th sounds good unless everyone is going to caddo? I really don't care if we push it back to the first sat in July.... What y'all think? I agree on weight but we need to be clear on what were shooting haha. Just reds? Or are we keeping all the exotics too?! Lol

I try not to schedule events on days that already have conflicts it takes away from the tournament turnout if your able I'd switch the date. Shadow already said he wouldn't fish it because Caddo is the same weekend not sure how many other guys this effects or if y'all were not planning on coming to Caddo this year?

Just my input, having a bowfishing tournament for reds is a bad idea. None of the tournaments in S.LA allow reds to be weighed or counted, and for good reason. If you have a total weight tournament, people will cull up on their weight and that means reds will go back in the water. It's just asking for trouble, after the trouble we had last year w/ the CCA and the LLA, it would be best to avoid this all together. The only type of tournament that you could get away with for reds is a shootout - 3 man teams, first back to the dock with a limit wins. But that type of tournament is really overrated. Now if y'all want to have a freshwater tournament then I'm all in.

Sportsman is a place that charters I would think they already don't like people that bow fish put in a bunch of loud as mudboats running around and drinking and carrying on then it don't make it look good for us!!

I have a camp there and they've known me since I was knee high to a duck. The only one running anything similar is Blaine and he does fly fishing charters if you are really worried about it. We can do the weigh in at my other camp 2 miles up 56. If we want we can meet for the weigh in at my pier. It's right next to boudreaux canal. I'll talk to them and get a for sure answer but I don't see it being a problem.

They have some guys who been doing bow fish tournaments for a long time and red fish tourneys are bad business !! The only thing that came come out of this is bad!!

Redfish are a touchy subject when it comes to bowfishing. As a way to "please the public", bowfishing tournaments do not allow redfish to be weighed or counted. There have been instances where after bowfishing tournaments, pictures of dead redfish w/ arrow holes floating around in the marsh have been plastered all over the internet. There's no telling if the pictures were legit or hoaxes, but they definitely were bad press. I can almost guarantee that if you have a tournament with a bunch of boats running around Cocodrie, some pictures will show up on the internet shortly after - whether legit or not. It's just a bad idea, asking for trouble. Fact is, a lot of people don't like what we do and they really don't like bowfishing for redfish. Not to mention the noise and lights from the boats around camps. Although it is perfectly legal to shoot reds, I think it would be better to avoid stirring up trouble - a trust me, a dozen mudboats running around shooting reds at night is going to cause trouble. A lot of guys that were involved with the fight with CCA spent a lot of time and $$ (myself included) to defend bowfishing for redfish would not be too crazy about this idea. I just don't see it going well. If you want to shoot redfish go for it, I enjoy it myself, but an organized tournament for reds is going to do more harm than good.

Sounds like what you all are dealing with regarding Redfish & Bowfishing over in LA is similar to what I & many others are fighting regarding the gigging of flounder.

Just got off the phone with the BAA vice president. He was the leader in the fight last year against CCA. He believes that an organized redfish bowfishing tournament is a bad idea.

Y'all go and shoot redfish and have a blast, but don't make a tournament out of it.
