Post Engine sputtering and cutting out when getting wet
So I went fishing today and it was pretty windy. Every time spray from the water hit the motor it would cut out and run real bad and black smoke was coming out of the exhaust, if it put it in neutral it would rev up fine but in gear it would do it. After about 5 minutes it would clear up and run smooth until it got wet again. Obviously something electrical was getting wet. Anybody ever had this happen? It was salt water and I have a mb 45 if that helps.

Yes sir! It happens & will happen, sounds electrical. Check all your wires make sure the wires haven't rubbed together exposing wire etc. Spark plug wires can also arch out easier to tell in the dark if that's happening but check your wires for chaffing mine had chaffed & some electrical tape fixed me right up. Typically these are easy fixes but saltwater caries a current much easier than fresh water. Good luck finding the source.

My engine only has 20 hours on it, Think some of wires are already exposed?

It's quite possible your spark plug wires are grounding out with the engine shroud cover. Could be the spark plug boots if they are contacting in that area. I had the same problem. Try spraying some silicone around the plug boots. It cured mine up.

Well I happened to have some with me out there and I filled the boot up with grease and still the same thing.

Same here, had about 9 hrs on mine when it did this to me @ the SETX run. Some electrical tape around the plug boot cured it right up.

Guess I'll try that. But it really didn't look like it was rubbing anywhere near there.

Mine wasn't either, looked like new. Only found it because it shocked the chit outta me when I touched it.
