Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
Their erratic flight and size makes them look faster, most people miss teal because they lead em too far.

Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
Pulled from another site:
Speed Record - The fastest duck ever recorded was a red-breasted merganser that attained a top airspeed of 100 mph while being pursued by an airplane. This eclipsed the previous speed record held by a canvasback clocked at 72 mph. Blue-winged and green-winged teal, thought by many (dumbazz) hunters to be the fastest ducks, are actually among the slowest, having a typically flight speed of only 30 mph.

Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
Well That just shows me how much you know your ducks, the blue winged teal is very capable of way over that, here's proof:
Behavior.--From the water the blue-winged teal springs into the air with surprising agility, and when under way is one of the swiftest of the ducks in flight; it has been credited with attaining a speed of 90, 100, or even 130 miles an hour
stick that in your pipe and smoke it

Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
YOu really want me to answer that? Ask J how many he shot, hell ask the whole bunch that was there, me, JamieB, and Keestan31 shot the most.
LMAO we had more fun at the camp than we did in the marsh...hahahahaha but hey i will be back, i like the quality of birds on that end.
Oh and i will give credit, i was able top work the birds more than we can here, really neat watching them come down.
Ok we shot a total of i think 8 teal in 3 days, given we did see some birds and it wasn't cause we were missing

Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
Guess you musta got your info off one of them SETX websites... And have no freakin clue what you are shooting at. They are easily the slowest ducks I ever shoot. A mallard fly's about twice as fast, and divers fly faster than that. Cans are one of the fastest, up there with a merganser (if you consider that a duck). Scaup and ringers are pretty fast too. Teal fly slow as chit. If you can't hit a forkin teal, you might as well just give up. http://www.ducks.org/news-media/news/61 ... -for-speedhttp://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Home/species ... fault.aspx

Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
Teal decoy faster than mallards, but when they are tryin to go from place to place a mallard is a good bit faster.

Re: Favorite Duck and Goose Calls
I use RNT and Buck Gardner duck calls and a Primos teal call. If you guys want a challenge, go to Kodiak Island and shoot sea ducks. Tuff sob's. I'm bringing 3 1/2" number 2's next time. Although I did drop 3 harlequins in one shot. Got double barrows goldeneye's same day. Awsome duck hunting.
