 Re: bow for bowfishing
A youth or a lady bow is good because of the let off.

 Re: bow for bowfishing
Crappy youth or ladies bows suck because the let off is not smooth at all. The arrows won't stay on the rest. If you want to go with something inexpensive that will work well, get a recurve. If you want to spend some money then you can look in to some of the higher end compounds geared towards bowfishing or go all out and get an oneida.

check out bowfishingextreme or backwaterbowfishing. That will give you all the options you would ever want.

 Re: bow for bowfishing
I started out with a lady's bow made by Parker I thank it was a buck or sommething like that. It was a great untile I got to going all the time and shooting tournaments. Then I got a Hydro Strike that is a awsome and sweet shooting little bow. I like the Oneida Osprey to but for the money the Hydro Strikes are hard to beat. They are fast and got a hell of alot of speed for a bowfishing rig.
Here are two gators I have taken with the hydro. Don't let anyone tell ya you got to shoot a 60 pound plus bow to get a penertration on a gator you just need the right setup. I shot both of these boys with 45 pounds and a innerloc arrow with a 3 bladed grapple.

 bow for bowfishing
All you need is a bow with 20-25 lbs draw !! Most is instinct shooting so bow with out letoff is better !! True hunting compound bows you have to anchor it to get your power!! I had guys with them in my boat and it's just two slow a process!! The reason I said in my early post is I have 5 bows all are great bows but the osprey from onieda is the shit!! So I works my way up go it but I spent alot of money to get to the one I really like!! All my podnas like the others !! Lol

For the money I still think the Barracuda is the best bang for your buck.

 Re: bow for bowfishing
i just got a barracuda and i love it. my backup is a POS bear that i have been using for 5 years and it works just fine. unless you plan on really getting into it just go hit up the pawn shops and pick one up for dirt cheap.

 Re: bow for bowfishing
Yea the Cuda takes a little pretty strong guy to pull back all night. Its not a bow i recommend for a weak kid or small woman. The fire eagle by AMS is a nice bow for the $ also. I find I have to crank it up to 47-48lbs to shoot as hard as the Cuda though. If you have some long arms that Cuda will pinch the crap out of your fingers too. No gloves is a must for me on them.
