 Morgan City Question
I'm stuck here at work tonight and while trying to get an update on the flooding that is going on, I came across a story online that said Morgan City and other areas will flood even without the Corps opening the Morganza. I'm not too familiar with the area so I'm wondering how much truth is in that news story.
I knew it would get bad if it was opened. Sorry to bring up a sore subject but I can't find any info that I trust. I certainly hope that everything works out and nobody gets flooded. I've made some really good friends off of this site and a few of them are in this area. Wish there was something I could do to help y'all out.
But, on a little brighter note, the river gauge at the plant where I work shows that the river has dropped 2 inches in the last 2 days. Wednesday it was at 12'6". It currently reads 12'4".

 Re: Morgan City Question
Water is going to go through Morganza regaurdless if they open it. It would top the locks if they didnt open it.

 Re: Morgan City Question
I talked to Jason about an hour ago. They sand bagging his house right now & he said the water is already up to the top of their bulkhead. Not really sure what's worse, having your place flooded, or having to watch as it's happening.

 Re: Morgan City Question
I heard that even though you have flood insurance, which covers natural disasters, this may not be covered due to the Corps controlling which way the flow goes. It's total bullshit if they are going to pull something lime that. Homeowners may want to dig into this and band together and try to do something if that's the case.

 Re: Morgan City Question
I found it hard to believe but wouldn't be surprised, either.

 Re: Morgan City Question
I went Saturday and help some fammily members sandbag my grandmaw's house in Belle River. We filled and stacked 600. Hope it was enough. Uncle J, I was gonna call and see if you needed help, but I didn't get out of Belle River till after 5pm. By that time I was spent.
Good luck man, I hope you stay high and dry.
