Post 35 hp surface drive NEED HELP!!
Motor is bone stock and has 112 hrs on it. With one person runs great, 2 people little worse, 3 people sucks and 4 people impossible. When you give the motor gas to take off it just bogs down and doesnt want to take off. im turning between 38 and 4200 rpms with just me in the boat. Any reccomendations on what to do to this motor. Only thing i have done is put new spark plugs in it nothing else has been done.

thanks cory

I'd say more prop or hull issues... MM brand shouldn't matter its a 35 B&S. 4 people is a lot of weight but still should be able to cruise at 22-25 MPH depending upon boat setup etc

If his boat is only 14 r 15 foot long, that could b the problem. Not giving many details 4 an answer that needs a lot of detail.
U need a longer, wider boat so u can handle more load.
The problem could b that it's a GDSD wif no neutral r reverse, just kidding.

The motor is on a 1854 excell. It used to rn better then what it does now is what i mean. The prop is fine. Ive just heard people talk about getting valve jobs done and that helps. If its needed.

Measure your prop. Just because it looks OK don't mean it is.
If the bottom of your boat isn't all beat up and u r still turning the same Rpms, about the only other thing is your prop.
A valve job would simply improve the engine as a whole but isn't absolutely needed.

x2 on what Terry said...

get the valves checked and maybe see if your carb has any trash in it.
