 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
i'v been using series 3000 5w-30 as long as i can remeber. but amsoil just came out with a new blend called z-rod which is specifically used for flat-tappet cam shafts. here's a link to it if you're interested http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/zrt.aspx

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
Any oil with alot of Zinc will be what you wanna run. COnventional, or synthetic is up to you. I run Rotella. or any Diesel oil with a good zinc package.

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
Upon further research here is what i found. IDK if it is 100% accurate but its good enough to make a good assumption. http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/show ... ostcount=4Here is just a few to post up to show the zinc PPM Amsoil HDEO 5w40 = 1081 PPM of zinc Amsoil MC/Vtwin 20w50 = 1281 PPM of zinc Chevron Delo 15w40 = 1622 PPM of zinc Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 = 1702 PPM of zinc Rotella T 15w40 = 1555 PPM of zinc Just stating the obvious. My motor has rotella in it cause at the time I ran that in my Diesel truck. I now run Delvac 1300 cause of price and its a great oil too, so thats what will go in the Vanny next oil change.

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
and dont forget a oil that is recomened for a motor that has a turbo, and that means high temps. so air cools run at higher temps to!!! so i think a diesel oil is the way to go for oil!!my 2 cents

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
From the Amsoli web site here is what is recommended.
Four-Cycle AMSOIL Formula 4-StrokeĀ® 10W-30/SAE 30 Synthetic Small Engine Oil (ASE) and 10W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil (AMO) use potent detergent and dispersant additives to keep contaminants suspended in the oil and away from metal parts long after the additives in conventional oils have depleted. The superior protection they offer keeps mower, tiller, lawn tractor, sweeper and other four-cycle engines clean, easy to start and running smoothly. Even in severe service, daily-use commercial applications, AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils resist thermal breakdown and maintain a durable lubricating fi lm on engine parts.
I run the HDD in my 04 Duramax that is the highest quality Diesel Motor oil Amsoil sales.
I run the ASE 10W30 in my Skag 27hp Kholer lawn mower. This mower has 1540 hours on it with no issues mechanical issues, still going strong.
If your going to buy Amsoil now is the time there is a sharp price increase July 1st.

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
Easiest way is to use this link or order directly from the amsoil web site. Here is the dealer locator. http://www.amsoil.com/locator/dealerlocator.aspxI have run it in my Duramax for 20,000 miles between oil changes. I have around 135K on it and no issues. It did start using a little oil at 20K so I now just change every 15K. The Skag has been severely used in the Dallas heat for 6 or more hours a day at times. I mow vacant lots on the side for extra cash. Yesterday I mowed a lot with 4 feet jhonson grass. I'm very impressed with the 27hp Kholer on the Skag which is exactly the same as the horizontal version on many MM's. Russ

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
Can u use the oils that are high in zinc for regular motor or is it mainly for racing/high performance engines. I know this is just a lawn mower motor but I would like to use the best oil if possible.

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
YOu are wasting money changing your amsoil at 15k. I run 10k on Rotella/ mobil delvac. You were better off with the 20k and stretching to 25k with oil analysis. Synthectic oils really dont help protect the engine longer... just the oil itself last longer needing to change it less.

 Re: Which amsoil oil ?
Synthetic oils don't break down like conventional oils do. They mainly become contaminated with exhaust blow by and fuel that gets past the piston rings as well as contaminants from the metal of the block and such. Long haul truckers runn it over 50K at times by using multifilter systems and sending in an oil analysis every 15K miles or so till the report comes back that you need to change the oil.
Anybody else have a kholer with over 1500 hours on it with no mechanical issues. I think that speaks for the value of Amsoil. Mobile 1, Rotella and Royal Purple are all good oils, I've tried them but the Amzoil seems to have done the best for me.
