Tee my chocolate lab 14 weeks old, has had loose poo the last week or so, and just yesterday he decided to not eat much. He has a couple accidents in his kennel and he never does that so it leads me to belive something is messing with his stomache. He still drinks water like normal and plays like his normal self so that's what's confusing. Last night he didnt want to eat much same this morning. I can put a few peices of food in my hand or on the floor he will eat them, but will not eat his normal sittings other than a couple bites. This morning same thing so I took his food away and decided to fast him. For lunch today he had a small soft runny poo and drank water. He watched me eat ans then went to the area where his food bowl would normally be but I didnt put it down for him. Any Idea what is up? How long should I fast him for? Feed him tonight or wait until the morning to see if his stomache settles?

Out of curiosity I spoke to a lady at the vet's office and she didnt think it was alrarming to take him in because he was still drinking water like normal and no vomiting. This is my first dog I raise on my own.

You got him on puppy food

If its really hot out they somtimes loose their appetite. If he has loose stools the best thing our vet told us was to boil some hamburger and mix it with some rice let it cool in the fridge and give him that instead of his dog food for a couple days. If it doesnt clear up take him in. My 2 labs have had that same type of thing happen and the rice mixture has cleared it up. Its a cheap thing to try before vet bills./

Yeah Fowl THe lady told me that too about the heat, but he stays inside the house during the day. He does play outside with me when I am home.

Like I said both the vets we have had the one out when we lived in Wyoming and the one back here in Wiscosnin have both told us about the rice and boiled burger mix. Maybe try it I know it has helped us before. Dogs get into shat all the time. Make sure to give lots of water if he has the runs yet they can become dehydrated easy

I have also been looking at the dog food review and the big name brand stuff really is a bunch of crap.... Looks like Im going to try to get him on a better food aswell for the same cost of the crap or less.

Saige had the same problem. The vet said all i had to do was start her on heartgaurd. She passed ALOT of intestinal worms. Chit was nasty. A day after that she was fine and bouncing off the walls as usual.

Regular dog food!! Purina complete balance dog food 18 $ 50 lb!!! During hunting season I go to the good stuff!! Keep the protein down that is What giving them the shits

Is he on heartgaurd yet?

He had 2 heart worm pills, He is due again on the 24th. Even my vet told me dogs are catching heartworms on them pills. I'm prolly gonna give him ivomec and put in his food once a month according to his weight. It is a more acurate dose than the pills that have a big weight gap.

Puppy food is very high in protein and is somtimes to rich for the dogs stomach. If you are looking at other dogs foods we stared feeding ours CANIDAE ALL LIFE STAGE DOG FOOD about 6 years ago and noticed a huge difference. I feed both my labs 2 cups of food twice daily and a little more during hunting season. Then bif thing we noticed is how they seem to stay full longer cause its not all corn and fillers in the food that just run through them. They alos shat less which is a huge plus and they really seem to enjoy it. You can tell they get full becaue instead of just sitting their now and wolfing down the whole bowl of food they both will eat a little and come back to it later. We buy a 45lb bag and it usally last 2 75lbs labs about a month. The other sweet thing is if ya save the UPC codes after 12 bags u get 1 free which is nice. Just some food for though we love Canidae and will never feed anything else

I heard the same thing. But heartgaurd kills hookworms and roundworms too. Thats what was causing all of Saige's problems.

I dont think its the food.

During hunting season I feed pro plan just to keep fat on them!! My big dog is 7 now and her whole life I thought she was just a cold natured dog!! Well this year I kept her weight up and she had no problems with cold!! First of October I will start with the proplan

Yeah when my wife and I decided to swicth dog foods I couldn't believe how alot of the big name companys had the sam ingredients as like OLE Roy or some bottom of the barrell dog food. Over half the brands we researched where corn based. Dogs gain no nutritnal value from corn it is stictly a filler. That is why so many dog are hungry all the time thus eating and shating more.

Gonna see what the local feed stores carry befroe i make a decision on food.

10-4. I done my homework and gonna try a small batch of food to see if tee likes it better than iams. I know he rathered the taste of the pupy chow over iams in the begginning.

If it gets out of hand let me know. if i change foods it upsets my dogs stomach and the first time i freaked out and brought her to the vet and they gave me medicine for it. I still have some left over from it and don't use it anymore. What i started doing is when i switch food i go half and half for a few days and just watch it and then i completely switch over. The vet put it to me this way. If you only ate rice and chicken for 2 months then started only eating double cheeseburgers how would you feel.

To hot lately and when the temps go up mine have always stopping eating all their food at meal time like they usually do. They will go back to it multiple times until its gone. All 3 bowls still have food in them.

He ate like champ last night, but had another accident. He was barking this morning cause he usually wines a few times and then goes back to sleep. Woke up to a smelly kennel with dark colored soft poop. IDK if i got a bad bag of dog food or what.... I didnt feed him this morning but he was looking at the bag of food and barking to eat. I was up at 4:45 washing his kennel and bathing the shit off of him lol. This all leads back to when my GF got this bag of Iams puppy....Same stuff we been feeding for 2 months

I fed Oakley 4health I forbid from tractor supply. I didn't have any problems with it and it's ranked pretty high on the list poker put up.

I read about that food. That and the Diamond natural seem to be the best bang for the buck. I judt want him to quit shitting in his kennel that is the 3rd time on this bag of food. I think it may be a bad bag of food.
