 23GTRL
JUST FINISHED BUILDING MY BOAT 17' 48" DRY WIEGHT 450 POUNDS. BOLTED 23HP GTRL ON. ONE PERSON, BATT. (IN BACK) 6 GALS GAS (UP FRONT) GPS AT 23 MPH IN DEEP WATER, 3300 RPM ANYTHING OVER THAT I LOOSE SPEED. IS THIS THE BEST I CAN HOPE FOR ?
FOLKS AT GATOR TAIL SAID "CHECK YOUR OUT OF WATER RPMS SHOULD BE AROUND 4200RPMS". SO I DID THAT, MOTOR SURGE'S SO MUCH IT READS AROUND 4100 TO 4500 RPMS, CAN'T GET A GOOD READING. AND HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT ADJUSTING THE TOP END RPMS.

 Re: 23GTRL
if your losing speed above 3300 rpm sounds like you have it trimed to high

 Re: 23GTRL
That's a good speed. You can bump it up a few mph with timing, cam and decked heads to about 27.

 Re: 23GTRL
If I throttle it up slowly and needs to be adjusted, do you do so by bending the tab on the gov. spring ?

 Re: 23GTRL
That is right lose speed, trimmed up to high But on gator tail forum you always see anyone talking about 3600 rpm's is best. At 3600 motor is trimmed up so mush I lose 3 mph. I just don't know, first surface drive

 Re: 23GTRL
Ok never found gov. Screw. But bent the tab that hook to the spring, and got it set at 4200 to 4350 RPMs, is that good?
