 Idle Issue/Battery Suggestion/Kill Switch
Okay, i havent been on in while since duck season has ended I have been using my 15HP 4 stroke on the boat(only because of the better gas mileage)(which is for sale if anyone needs one). But today we put it back on today so I wanted to see if you guys could help me sort out some small issues.
Idle Issue Last year we have to replace a coil on the boat, it set up for about a month in the transistion, once replaced it would flood itself if idleing. So today we took off the carb and looked at it it was clean as can be, the needle that is hooked to the float worked properly and there was no build up. We took it out and ran it on the lake an it seemed to idle for about twenty minutes without an issue. towards the end it was trying to lope a little harder, to where it would die if i didn't give it more fuel. Do you guys think that the coil not being in the spaced properly from the fly wheel coud make it idle odd. Kinda like a hot rod lopping would be the best way to describe it. Just doesn't seem to idle very smooth. It runs fine when the rpms are high.
Kill Switch Okay my kill switch has one wire that runs to the handle frame( to ground?), then there is a hook up on the back of it but no wire? It was like this when i bought it, so is the tab on the back of the kill switch to be run to he common ground on the motor?
Thanks guys i appreciae all the help!
Battery Suggestion Its also time for a new battery on the boat also, its a lawn mower motor so if i am not going to run any lights to te motor battery would that work? The reason I ask is i don't see many of you with lawn mower batteries for your motor. Or would you just use the a car battery and run light and all accessories to it also. We run two lights up front that are wagner 6 volt 30 watt each. We also run a spot probably 5 minutes a run.

Sorry, don't know anything about the 25hp, maybe someone with knowledge of that motor will chime in.

 Re: Idle Issue/Battery Suggestion/Kill Switch
Does your engine have the smart spark module? Little black box mounted on the starter side of the motor? If it does, you just space the coils as far away from the flywheel as you can. If you have the "high rev coils", no smart spark, then you will need to set the gap. You can download the service manual for free on the kohler website.
