 PD 36 questions
I am getting ready to buy a new motor a 36 PD. How much hp will a stage 1 kit add? How much will a stage 2 kit ad in HP? How much is too much? What prop will I have to run if the hp is increased? Who is the best at doing this work?

 Re: PD 36 questions
Where are you located? Stage 1 and stage 2 don't really mean shit. Everyone has their own recipe. Heads, cam, and exhaust will give a very good boost in power. Really help out with load carrying.

 Re: PD 36 questions
I am in NC BUT dont have a distance limit as to where I will go to get what i want!
What I would like to see out of the motor is about 50 hp, and a prop that will accent that hp. I plan on hanging this motor on a 17x54 boat. yes a mud hull. I have a 25 pd now that i built an exhaust for and changed the carb. IT does pretty good but when you put 3 people and gear in it it sucks, and for long distance it really sucks with a load. WE usually run about 8 miles 1 way to hunt.

 Re: PD 36 questions
You may be able to find a BPS service center close to where you are. I don't know of any in particular in that area, and would try to check the reputation of anywhere you find before bringing them any work. Getting in to the mod game, it would be very wise for you to learn how to work on it yourself or be close enough to where you can take it back if you have any issues. Better solution being learn how to do it yourself. It's all very simple for the most part. Carbs are the trickiest part for me, so I prefer to keep the stock carb. I'd rather mess with pistons, cam, heads, etc. Others would prefer not to open the case, and chose to learn how to tune carbs instead.

 Re: PD 36 questions
If distance to get what you want is not an issue, then I would call Andy (boatdr) and talk to him and see about taking the motor down to him.
Stage 1, 2, 3 etc is thrown around a lot, but it really depends on who is doing them as to what exactly each one entails.
Best to focus on what you want out of motor, your budget to get there, and who will do you the best job.
Be careful, there is a lot of guys who think they know what they are doing, and companies that do mods on small engines for other applications that just don't translate to the mud motor world....
If you are buying the motor and getting it direct from PD, then you can probably get it over to Andy's pretty easy....
Good luck and let us know what happens...

Andy def does good work if you don't mind the drive. His customer service is also second to none and he will be available to help walk you through just about anything you need over the phone if necessary.

 Re: PD 36 questions
Shipping would be the way to go. Depending on how close you are to SC there is a pro-drive dealer close to NC line. I'm not sure if they do mods or not. I have their # if you are interested
