 Re: teal migration
Seen a few teal here, but very little so far. Plenty of wood ducks and black ducks, but they're always here.

 Re: teal migration
I know this sounds wierd in a way but i live in east tx an all of the lakes are very very low but over the years we have realized something an that may just be us but when the lakes are really low we kill an see a lot more birds than when the lakes are high. Teal numbers especially seem be better when lake is low low I guess because the water depth

 Re: teal migration
They seem to keep movin' though. With no water, all the hunters are confined to the same areas too. Last year the birds did not seem to stay long. Lot of mornings when we got to the lake it was covered with birds and they'd be gone and headin' south by sunrise. No food, no place to hide, no ducks.
Food is better up in the woods. When the water is high, you can get away from other people and find where the birds are hiding. Just find you some acorns and life is good.

 Re: teal migration
Its all in how much water is availible to the ducks.
This past duck season it was very dry around here, all the beaver ponds, bottomland, ag feilds, and sloughs were dry. We had more teal in early season all the way through duck season than I can ever remember.
There is also a small creek and some bottomland that floods behind my house, in wet years there would be hundreds of those little ponds and the Woodies would be spread out to where you hardly see a duck.
This year I killed my 3 nearly every time I went in the mudholes on the creek.
