 Re: Painting Exhaust?
Well, you can clean it up with a small sanding disc on a drill & then paint it with VHT (Very High Temperature) flat black paint. Of course, you'll have to repaint it after a few hours when it starts to turn pink. Or, you can do like I've done with my last 3. Just run the piss outta it & let the mud bake on it a lil bit so it's nice & brown & blends in with the marsh better.

 Re: Painting Exhaust?
Sandblast it. An hr later it'll be a nice carmel color.

 Re: Painting Exhaust?
VHT will peel off, those mufflers run hot, its a waste of time to paint it.
Let it carmelize, if you want it a consistent color then put some oil on it and bake it on.

 Re: Painting Exhaust?
Sandblasted because it was filthy
An hour or so run time. (Different pipe)
Best way to clean a pipe up.

 Re: Painting Exhaust?
Deadbird8 is right. I cannot find a HT paint that will stay on. SO.. I paint it every other trip or so. The hotspots are pretty easy to see. I just steel wool the old flakes away and shoot more black on. But the whole seasoning thing really does intrigue me. That might just work.
