Thinking about getting a Remington 887 nitromag for my little cousins birthday, anybody have any trouble out of these guns?

Only problem i have heard but not very much was the release button is plastic and it breaks easy. other than that it has been a good gun.

I'm shooting one right now in the blind as I type this. Very little recoil and shoots great.

Got one for the armor-lock bout two years ago. Bad thing is i have used it more than my Xtrema 2. Just enjoy a pump. I haven't had any problem out of mine and ive only cleaned it a few times

I have one.. It is a nice gun due to it's Teflon coating, and weight. Though, due to being so light, when you fire a 3.5", you KNOW it.

I've had one issue. First time I took the gun out, foreverdraggin and I went shoot some pigs. Well, while listening to hear some animals, a 8 or 10 point buck walks out about 20yds away. I took aim, and CLICK... Misfire!!! When I pumped and the 3.5" buck shot hit the floor, the deer was GONE!!

I did a search online and found that misfiring is a BIG issue with these guns. There are people that have even sent theirs back to get repaired and upon return, they still act up.

If Remington could ever get the bugs worked out of it, the 887 would actually be a good gun. It don't rust and you faint hardly knock the paint off of it. I went with a friend to pick one up when they first came out, it shot good and did great the first 2 hunts, they the misfires and hang up started, and it got worse from there. Another guy I know bought one at the end of last year and had no problems from it until he took it to a dove shoot the other weekend and it started doing the same as the one that's 2 years old.

Post Re: Remington 887 nitromag
The Christmas before last, which was the first season they were released, my wife bought me one for Christmas. I opened it up Christmas morning and put the gun together only to realize that the beads did not line up. The ventilated rib was actually curved. I returned the gun to Bass Pro where my wife bought it and they gave me a refund. I wanted to exchange it, but they didn't have another one. I liked the feel of the gun and the looks of it, but couldn't find another one.

The thing that bothered me the most is that a gun left the factory's Quality Control department with an obvious defect.

I wanted one when they first came out until I looked at one in person. Call me old fashioned but it seems to cheap built to me and the sites didn't seem to be in line with the barrel. I wasn't impressed with it so I stuck with my ole 870.

Rem will probably get it figured out since they make probably the most bullet proof pump gun ever built. New stuff sometimes takes a little time to work kinks out.

Got one 2 years ago and love it. Only problem ive had was the over decoys choke that came with was a joke. Patterns were all over the place. Bought a kick modified and its pretty damn deadly. I put my guns through hell and havent had any issues with it.

:? I was under the impression the 887 was just an 870 with teflon coating & different style stock & forearm. Is that not the case? I gotta admit, I was intrigued by em when they 1st hit the market, but until my ol Winchester gives out, I aint got any reason to look for another shotgun.

I got one back @ Christmas '09. Love it. I'ts light and has alot less recoil for a light gun.
I shoot 3" Win Experts. I've shot3 cases through it and never once had it misfire. Last fall we went to the skeet range and I shot 75 rounds through it and never had an issue.
I, however at the very least, do a little cleaning up on it after each trip. Even a couple dabs of oil here and there to make sure everything slides right. Any gun that is neglected will have problems.

If you can find someone close by that has one, take it for a test shoot.
