 Dad
Was over at BROOKS' house today checkin out his garden. We were just about to get a demonstration of his irrigation system when mom called and said dad was having chest pains and to meet her at the ER. Well I left there in a hurry and met them at the ER (almost beat the ambulance ). Dad had to have a stent put in back in 02 because of a 99% blockage in one of his arteries. Apparently he will be getting another one this next week. He did not have a heart attack but the PA that saw him while I was there said he probably had some more blockage that would require another stent. PS BROOKS' wife said someone got excited and pulled the phone line out of the wall Don't know if it was him or his cute little gran-baby or what but he has no internet or phone service at the house

 Re: Dad
Glad your dad is doing better. I just went through what you did but my dad went a little further. About three weeks ago my dad was port and polishing some stock car racing heads and fell over having a heart attack. My dad's shop is about fifty yards behind his house. My mom is in the house however she has alzheimers. My dad said he layed on the shop floor for about 45 minutes or more having a heart attack. My mom went out to check on him and found him ghost white. My dad told her to call 911. So my mom went back in the house and started watching TV. After another several minutes my dad was able to muster up enough energy to crawl into the house and asked my mom to call 911 again. She did. Well dad had a stint put in but layed up for a week in the hosp and then had a triple bypass. After a couple of days he was up and walking around. Then he had a stroke in the middle of the night and was paralyzed on his right side and he stayed another week or so in the hosp. Now he is home but is restricted to the house. He has been calling the doctor to release him to drive but the doctor told him 4-6 weeks. He is doing good but going stir crazy. My dad is 73 years old but he is in very good physical shape. He is a old paratrooper and just was clogged up. Glad your dad is doing better and hope you are doing good yourself.

 Re: Dad
Update 90% block in right coronary artery. 80% block of stent that was put in in 02 and there is a clot there. He is on some clot bustin meds and they are going to keep him until next Mon. Have to do 2 different procedures to fix him up. I didn't know that they can stent a stent but they are going to. Good news for him is that they don't have to open him up.

 Re: Dad
Prayers up for all yalls people.
Randy, my dad's dad was OSS/CIA. He had a heart attack and a stroke at the same time in 1985. He was lucky to live at all. When he woke up in the hospital, he thought he was on life support and started pulling all the plugs out of the wall. He laid back and waited to pass. He had turned off his heart monitor and pulled the cable connection to the TV out of the wall. Those old dudes are tough aren't they?

 Re: Dad
Well Dad is now getting a pacemaker. The doctor told him that this would help keep him from blacking out when out in the garage. My dad asked 'well I have never blacked out' The doctor said 'well when you had your attack you blacked out' My dad said I have never blacked outl not even when I had my heart attack. All I did was lay down in the garage on a piece of cardboard. I thought I was having gas problems. He is up and walking around their neighborhood. The doctor gave him the o.k. to drive and you would have thought hs won the lottery. I appreciate the kind words about my dad. He is sincerly a good man and a strong man serving Christ. Randy

 Re: Dad
Prayers sent for both of yall.
Been there. Dad (72 at the time) had a heart attack in 06, 100% blockage. As luck would have it, I had just gotten back from a meeting, and i was supposed to be out all afternoon on a shoot. He called me (I live next door) and I went over to check him out. Thought he was having a stroke. Ambulance came and ran him to ER. Put a stint saved his life.
Since then he had 2 more stints put in and a coradid artery cleaned out.
Now, in January of this year he had a scope done on his lungs. Doc came in the room and told me he had a mass and believed it was cancer. I told the doc that it would be better to hold on to that info until the followup visit because after we got home, we were getting ready to go to my sisters wake right after (she had cancer of the mouth) Ironic, they both had cancer at the same time, just he didn't know it yet.
He just finished his 2 round of chemo and it's doing the job of shrinking the mass pretty good. He's going for another ct scan friday so we'll see if this second round did the trick so he can get some radiation.

 Re: Dad
My dad is walking several miles each day. He is getting ready for surgery to insert a pace maker on the 15th. Should be a cake walk for him. Thanks to all for your kind words.
