 Texas drought
I've been hearing that this drought is very likely to last all the way up to 6 years? Ive scouted and scouted, and have yet to find any huntable water. All of our ponds, lakes, sloughs, everything. It's all dry. This is about downright sad, has anyone else Hurd anything about how long this drought is expected to last?

 Re: Texas drought
I think it's going to last until it rains alot over there. I'm no meteorologist so I could be wrong.

 Re: Texas drought
Well dont feel like the Lone Ranger. Went to check out my lake holes today. Had to walk in a good ways. Have always had about 12-18" of water at least in the holes.
The blind would be looking good with all that grass in I could get some water.
The rest of the lake pretty much looks like this. Salvynia so thick you can almost walk on it.

 Re: Texas drought
Blaine- that guy was a trip Poker - yeah it's horrible. Hopefully the farmers almanac is right, and the old saying "dry summer wet winter" is correct. But I see the chances of that being very unlikely.

 Re: Texas drought
I think the chances are just fine. 50-50. It will rain, or it won't. Pretty good odds to me.

 Re: Texas drought
If we ever do get water again ducks will be everywhere due to all the grass and vegetation that's grown on the banks they'll have a tpm of food

 Re: Texas drought
It looks like on the radar, TX is about to get hammered. We have over 9 inces right now at the house in FL, and it is still raining. Houston looks to be getting hammered right now....

 Re: Texas drought
If your area is completely dry this year and next, u will be lucky to ever kill ducks there again. U will lose a large number of migrating ducks just from this year. They go to the same places every year. Young ducks follow older ducks to the over wintering grounds. Every duck u would expect will go somewhere else and make that their new winter spot. Very few will return next year. I have experienced this first hand. Our duck lease is in the best shape it has ever been in and we don't have ducks anymore. They r killed all around us, but a few years of solid lillies moved the ducks and now all we have is a pretty marsh.

 Re: Texas drought
We've had a slight drizzle on and off since early this afternoon. We need about 3 weeks of straight rain go fill up the lakes and ponds down here tho
