 Back from Wyoming
Just got back from the annual Wyoming family visit and hunt. This year, Pronghorn was on the ticket. Did see bunches of "goats" and estimated we looked over at least 1000 bucks in 7 days. Plenty of Mule Deer but none over the 160ish score. Saw maybe 125 elk. One real nice 370 type bull. Another that could have been in the 350'S but he had a main beam broken off just above his 3ed point on the right side. It seems strange to me to see a herd of elk out on the sage flats where your hunting Pronghorn. I know they are plains animals and grass eaters but still I expect to see them in the mountains. I do need to look into the waterfowl hunting in that state. Looks like it could be real good on the major rivers. Anybody have any good inside scoop on waterfowl in Wyoming? Duckdon

 Re: Back from Wyoming
Nice pronghorn....
Need you a well trained - strong swimmin dog to waterfowl on the rivers my family has taken me to up there.... Duck hits moving water and dog has been trained to run down the shoreline then jump into the river when he catches up to the duck and then swim striaght back to the shoreline and run back (hopefully) on our side of the river with the duck and to "drop" on shore if we shoot another one and go after it without finishing the retrieve.... Totally different training than I have ever seen on the Texas Gulf Coast....
Cousins dogs were well trained on that scenario - water was moving over 5 mph - never seen it done that way before - but without the right dog it would be PITA over that moving water....

 Re: Back from Wyoming
I think it would be the ticket to have a net across the creek and walk down and get the ducks out of it at the end of the hunt.

Good stuff, I'd like to whack one of those one day. Oh, and you somewhat resemble Brooks.

 Re: Back from Wyoming
Run you a gill net across the the river and multi task. Ducks on surface and fish under. duckdon nice speed goat. I have yet to hunt Wyoming but have hunted the dakotas and montana. You should be able to find a pile of ducks up there. Right now. We always went the dakotas in the last week of Oct and first week in Nov. After that mother nature shuts her door fairly quick.
