Post Help
Got a bunch of new decoys. Well actually 3 dozen flambeaus & was wondering how much decoy line & what size weights to put on them. Can't decide if I want to go with 5oz or 8oz weights.

I've heard of Tanglefree but not tangleless. I've got a bunch of old monofiliment line that's 17lb test. Would that work? Last time I used some white string from the hardware store but I think the ducks could see it. Stuff floated but I figured if they got that close then I could shoot.

Screw it! I'm going to ask on the Avery forum. Those guys are nice and know how to answer someone's questions without making them feel dumb.

Do you put the half hitch on the weight or the keel? I've been practicing the half hitch knot & think I got it down now. Only thing is there's this big clump of rope about half the size of my fist around the weight. Looks like it will hold it pretty good though. There's 2 holes on the keel too. Should I put the line on the back hole on some of my decoys? Tying the rope to the keel works alot better than tying around the neck of the decoy. Thanks for all your help.

Post Re: Help
tie your lines however you want then wrap youe string around the keels like you are putting them in a bag

Then get what line you want for your water depth then tie half hitch knot on either side of the keel and tighten it down and set the deke out

Thats best thing bout half hitch is you can put it on either side of the keels to make your spread look real by having some dekes facing the wind and some facing your landing zone to give a more relaxed look because when ducks are not spooky they arent all always facing into the wind ready to jump up so you need to make your spread look as relaxed as possible by not having every deke facing into the wind

Heres what ya do sundance.....you take about 15' of line and wrap about 5' around your neck real tight and then take the other 10' and tie it to the highest tree limb you can find and JUMP.

Problem solved..........
