 Best revenge?
So me and my buddy are hunting an island in the middle of the Tn river that is owned by TVA. It used to be a duck hunting club years ago. It holds lots of woodies, geese, and deer. We spent hours at the end of the summer cutting trails and preparing our spots for deer season. The banks are about 15ft straight up, so we tied on some climbing rope to help us up. So far we have killed two deer and seen many more, but here in the last few weeks some jackass had started messing with us. My buddy's stand was stollen, all our ropes were cut, and to really piss me off.... the sum bitches even siphoned my gas Sunday evening.
My question is: What should we do to set these guys up/get em back for all this? I'm looking to get our point across without killing them.

 Best revenge?
1) don't put personal property on public land and expect it not to be messed with , if I missed understand and it's private land wait for them to show up take anything of theirs of value and tell them if they come back they won't leave the island alive 2) if the second part of 1 doest apply- do you know the people who are doing it? If so wait for them to get to the island and sink their boat or get over it you put your stuff on public property and someone from the public found it and took it

 Re: Best revenge?
If you ask for ideas for potentially illegal acts on a public site and any of those acts carried out, YOU could find yourself in a jam. Regardless if you committed the acts. Any acts done to them will most likey look like revenge and then people start asking and snooping and boom, leads to you.
Just saying, be smart, and cya.
Now that does suck about your stuff, for sure.

 Re: Best revenge?
It sounds like you have spent enough time at this place to know where to hunt, have you ever seen anyone else out there? i also hunt by boat and there is thousands of acres to hunt, but, there are folks in these parts who would spend their whole day ruining yours. So, unless you have the same time to devote the ruining theirs in return, your fighting an uphill battle. Dont do anything that will get you into legal trouble. cause when you do you will start spending your hard earned money and who wins then???? trouble with the law=money. good luck
this is what i tell myself anyway! ive spent enough money on lawyers, fuck that!

 Re: Best revenge?
Get you a 5 gallon gas can and fill it. Then add a bunch of moth balls or a bunch of salt. Let them run that through their engine. Make them think twice about stealing gas again.

 Re: Best revenge?
We hunt this place during early wood duck and goose season. We know the other guys that hunt out there then and have never ran into anyone hunting deer out there. There arent ever any boot prints on our trails when we go in, other than mine. I'm not sure if its somone that maybe used to hunt the island and just doesn't want people out there, or somebody just being a dick. I know it was public land that he left his stand on but why cut up the ropes and steal gas? I mean there is alot of TVA land around that people hunt around here and no one messes with their stuff.

 Re: Best revenge?
i like muddafricka's idea. is TVA a public land or not? rule 1 of public land is to never leave anything out there if you dont want it stolen.. even if in your truck or camp.. his idea will keep ya legal and theyll probably quit messin with ya after that..

 Re: Best revenge?
Yes, all TVA owned property is public land. The only places you cant hunt are their safety zones and within 50yds of a facility. The ass whoopin is the preferred, but I would like to mess with his stuff a little first so he can appreciate how it feels..... since it is public land and all. I understand him stealing the stand but why mess up our trails and sucl my gas hole dry? Most people that hunt the river know better than to mess with a man's boat tied off. That's just common rules of the river.

Ha ha, I thought about digging about a 8 foot pit and covering it with leaves and bamboo on our trail.

 Re: Best revenge?
if there is a 4 wheeler trail where there is standing water always. dig a 3' deep by 5' hole and line the bottom with boards with nails driven though em. it wont kill em but bust the 2 front tires. but be careful...shit can get sloppy and hunters always have guns. my friend anthony prestonbach got killed on his own lease and his twin brother got shot by a guy who had hunted it all his life and felt like it was his. when they confronted him, shit went south.

That would be a good deterant billy. We used to do that for coyotes, but with all the PETA people running around we have just resorted to meat piles and spot lights.

 Re: Best revenge?
The best revenge doesn't exist. Its public and you have no say about the land. I realize you did a lot of work but that's kinda yur fault yhat you did it on public. People get stipid about hunting and imo yur taking a huge risk forkin with someone you don't know. Shit can get out of hand quick and often it oytcome is not good. Do bodily harm to someone and the law is likely to be involved or they may attempt to take care of the problem (you) themselves. Its a no win.

 Re: Best revenge?
If you do anything for revenge that results in anyone getting injured, you are guilty of assault and battery. Is 3 hots and a cot with a criminal record and losing your gun rights worth it? It sucks about your stuff but if you retaliate, and ANYONE gets injured, how do know 100% that your VICTIM is the person who wronged you? And if someone does get injured they ARE the VICTIM and the law is now on their side and YOU are the criminal. If you end up in legal trouble, the vandals have the ultimate revenge on you.
As much as it sucks that it happened, your only smart recourse is to either report it or to drop it. While its fun to vent and come up with ideas, it's not worth the risk. And the rest on MMT members shouldn't encourage or suggest such acts. If the law wanted to, they possibly could go after anyone involved.

 Re: Best revenge?
venting about the problem on line is ok. actually doing some of what was said here would be stupid. the tree stand thing would and has pissed me off, because it has happened to all of us. tree stand, trail cam etc... if you leave it out someone will steel it. as for the rope, it kinda falls the same. the boat gas is another story. if this has happened on a regular basis i would try to catch them. leave the boat and wait for them. if caught the theft charge should detur further thefts. plus it may leed to the recovery of the tree stand.

 Re: Best revenge?
deer camera. Primos black out is what I'm using to guard my nets on the river right now. I spoke to a Consv ofc about someone running my gill nets and that I had a camera on them. He said when I get pics call him and he will do his best to identify the person and file charges. I plan to catch the person and get a criminal judgement against them and the sue for lost income.

 Best revenge?
You deserve anything you get for leaving ropes, stands, unconcealed trails, etc on public land. BUT, any one of you assholes would be pissed if you had your boat tied off, we're gone hunting, and someone stole your gas while you were gone.
