I have a buddy that I hunt w/ n MS that shoots hens on purpose when hunting w/ me if the groups arent big. He says he knows what I am shooting & he just shoots something else to up the headcount.

I only shot drakes if the limit on that bird one or two like with bluebills or a canvas back or redheads , everything else is fucked but mergs they get a free pass.

Depends on the day I usally shoot anything.. The only reason we try not to kill hens right away is cause you can only kill one up heat. So I usally right at opening if we can't tell its a drake we let it fly,, After that it don't matter.. I eat em all except coot and Mergs

Me if I'm home hunting ducks here tey not like hunting the Delta ark or Tx it's few to a flock and few flocks so whatever fly's die's that simple. When I go off I try not to shoot nothing but drakes.
