 Go devil LT help!!
My go devil is bogging down when full throttle is applied. I just had the carb rebuild this past week thinking that was it. I also changed all fuel lines filters . My main pump has 4 psi going to small pump then 2psi to carb just like go devil says it should. It runs fine out of the water get get rpms but when I put the prop in the water it seems to bog down.
I'm also outta town hunting so if any one has had any problems like this please shoot me some advice.
Thanks

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
The plunger on the fuel solenoid likes to get clogged up on those things. Take it out and clean it, or cut the plunger off and reinstall, or fill the hole with a short ss bolt. It can cause problems similar to what you are having and is not necessarily something that would be looked at when cleaning the carb.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
I put a brand new solenoid in it also when I rebuilt the carb but it very well could be it. It has me so puzzled just don't understand it. I will check it again though.
You are talking abou the one that screws in the bottom of he carb with the wire coming out of it. I think it's a idle solenoid?

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
I don't know exactly where it is on the honda's, but I know Paul has posted a few times that they will cause issues and that's what he runs. It should be the only thing on the carb that has wires connected to it. You don't need it and it seems to cause more issues than it's worth. On our briggs engines, I put a ss bolt in one and cut the plunger off on the other. If you are out of town, you might just cut the plunger off and reinstall. That will at least eliminate it from the equation.

When you say plunger, the thing I'm talking about has a pointed(plunger but metal) that slides in a spring. We talking the same thing correct

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Yeah. When you turn the ignition on it energizes the spring and pulls the plunger back to let fuel through. They can stick sometimes and not let enough fuel pass.
Never seen what the solenoid on yours looks like, but the one I took apart, rather than cut it, I took the mechanism apart and took the spring and plunger out then reassembled and put it back in. On my motor, I just went and found a small bolt to plug the hole but that was a mission finding that bolt and probably not worth the hassle if you are out of town and trying to hunt.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Solenoid is located on bottom of the fuel bowl, when it starts sticking it'll do exactly as you describe. The pilot jets allow enough fuel for the low end but not enough on the top end.choke aint stuck open is it? Also when is the last time you checked your valve lash???

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
That's exactly what it looks like. Will it do that even though it's brand new? The choke is working correctly as a matter of fact I can pull it out while running then push it back in and it try's to run full throttle then Boggs back down. I haven't check value lash at all.
I really appreciate yalls help, its great to have a site like this!!

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Hmmm, it runs better with the choke? Sure you don't have any air leaks or anything? Do you have an erratic idle?
And yeah, I would say stranger things have happened. There is a possibility that the new solenoid has an issue.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Pull the solenoid and cut the needle off!!! If pullin the choke helps it run better you got trash in your main jets or fucked up solenoid.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Well when I say runs better with choke I mean I can pull the choke then push it back in then it try's to run for a spilt second then Boggs back down.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Cool. Cut the plunger off and go run it. See if that fixes the problem then we'll go from there.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
I tried running half choke didn't help it just helped when I pulled it out then pushed it back in for a spilt second. And I'm with you on the gaskets they are alittle aggravating. I will try pulling that plug then just screw the solenoid back in without it the plug and run it.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Fuel shutoff!!! Only picks/opens when the key is turned to the on position
What I have always been dumb founded about is of the motor dies or is on fire??? The solenoid stays open till the switch is turned completely off

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
ALl this valve lash, air leaks, etc.......... do not apply folks, it is a HONDA. Which IMO is more durable than any Briggs. It is the fuel solenoid. Solenoid is not ethanol friendly, causes rust on the plunger and solenoid sticks. My Honda 24 was 3 months old and I had this simmilar probelm. I just removed plunger, clean with emery cloth and wd40. I coated plunger with 2 stroke oil upon reinstalling. I run Stabil Marine Formula fuel additive now, and no more problems.

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
Thanks to everyone that helped on my post.
Talked with Paul this morning and he got me steered in the right direction.
Took solenoid Plunger out and while taking fuel off found some trash in the jets by the solenoid. So it's back to hunting for now.
Thanks, Ryan

 Go devil LT help!!
Had a similar problem with 35 vanguard on my LT. Called go devil and talked to warren coco. He walked me through several things. The problem was the engine was barly fireing in one if the cylinders, I know that sounds wierd. But what I did what sprayed a ton of choke cleaner and ran the engine choked and it cleaned it out. You also could be vapor locked. Happened to me few weeks ago. Try disconnecting fuel hose and running gas out of motor. Then before you attach fuel line again make sure vent on gas can is open. Just some thoughts, I'm not a small engine wiz

 Re: Go devil LT help!!
I guess you didn't see bobbyjobers post. Honda is the most reliable engine on the market. The only part that you could ever possibly have an issue with is the fuel solenoid. Fuel lines, intake leaks, and valve lash cannot create any problems.
