GOOD electricians will always be in demand! Trouble is here too many Mexicans/cheap labor.
Go to school for electrical engineer, part time in the trade gaining hours and experience.

I'm in the oilfield service sector. I went to college and have a BS in Industrial Technology from ULL. I been with Baker Hughes for 6 years now. I got hired on as a field engineer. I did that for awhile then moved to DeepWater Coordinator for awhile. I have been a Deepwater Completions Supervisor for the last 4 years, and wouldn't have it any other way. The oilfield is up and down but if you are the cream of the crop you don't have a problem. I've seen them come and go and the good ones never go because its so hard to find good people. The oilfield service sector is verrrry broad and there are many jobs worldwide.

Remember the world revolves around oil, and the oil companies will be looking and drilling for oil until there is none left. That will most likely be the end of the world so worring about a job then is pointless.

So to answer your question if you're engineer material go for it. If your are not go for something that is very close to it.

well ther is not much revolving around oil arund here i live in the mississippi delat out side of greenwood and the big thing here is agriculture and the main jobs are farming, selling the farmers equipment, repairing farm equipment(my father has done this for 20 years now), and fertilizing and irrigation industries, i intially thought about doing a job in the feild of fertilization but there ar few jobs for that now and most of them have been filled. haw ever electritoinal work(i think ) is a good stable feild to go into but there are alot of sub dividions to eltrical work and i was wondering if any of yall do that, i would be willing to move but the delta is my home, i would be willing to move but i hope its not too far and i hope the duck hunting is damn good were ever i go :D

Oilfield Could be good or bad

I am a offshore crewboat captain.. and like MSM8281 said see people come and go all the time but I can say this much if you don't get sea sick and want to make good money all boat companies are hiring. Work is going good in the gulf right now. And the only thing bad is going from home alot.. I work 28/14 or 14/7 and miss alot like my newborn growing up, miss some good duck hunting morning when buddy's are out hunting and I'm at work.. But I'm the one that wanted to work in the oilfield and I wouldnt change my career.. Oilfield trash right here...

Louisiana is full of high paying oilfield jobs and and great duck hunting. Move from that crappy state to God's Country.

It also has 3 deltas. Missisissippi Delta, Atchafalaya Delta, Wax lake outlet, and also a small one out of Baldwin.

Medical field will always be hopping too. As a nurse you could get a job anywhere in the country as well as out of the country. You could do travel nursing to places like Alaska during duck season as an added bonus. The medical field is ever growing, pays well and will always be in demand.

Most offshore jobs are 14 and 14 unless you work the service side, which is mostly 24 hour call which sucks. The only good thing is that it's possible to make over 100K within 3-4 years depending on what you choose. I have several friends that work on the production side that make in the 60-80 range and work 14 and 14. If I wouldn't have got acustomed to the money I make now, i would be working production.

As far as a captain license you have to have sea time working on boats and learn how to drive them and go to school for it.. 10day course.. My one motor hunting boat is easy to drive compared to just getting on this boat with 4 main engines.. Talk about fun though..

Computer oriented trades are expected to increase by 52% by 2018. Jobs like computer software development, website design and management, IT, etc will be in increasing demand in the near future.

Coprolites, the real term can sell for as much as $500+ depending on species it came from and what it ate. I have seen single shark teeth sell for $2500.

Or here is another option.

Find the 50 wealthiest Men around. Narrow them down to wich ones have daughters in your age group or close. I would try and find the ugliest cause I know I would have a better shot at getting her to fall in love with me, and marry into money

UPS...... My Degree won't make me the money I make here at UPS. And thats a fact. That's why I stay. They can be uptight at times ,but for the money they pay us I kinda understand.

Or like Poker said go to school to be a nurse. Most vo-tech's have a LPN course ,that will atleast get you started in the right direction. Vo-tech's are usually cheaper than going to a private institute. Go to work as a LPN while continuing to study for your RN degree or maybe even higher. Or you can do like my wife and go for the gusto the first time around.

Professional Land Surveyor. I'm headed back to school for this. It's a mix of office days and field days. Pay seems pretty decent from the people I've talked to. Set schedule for work, no holiday, weekend, or on calls to hassel with. Get to see differnet places and one of the first people to know when a piece of land or house is for sale. This way if your in a position to make a purchase for an investment you would be on top of it.

Find a job you love doing and it won't seem like work. I was a carpenter for 14 years, when I was younger I chased the big bucks. Worked on a Military Base making 90K+ a year pounding nails. Hated that job but stayed there for 7 years. One day I just had enough and walked away, now I build custom furniture in my shop and do custom woodworking.

1. medical
2. engineering mechanical or electrical
3. whatever makes you happy. they say a man who loves his job never works a day in his life, but paying the bills and nice things might make you smile bigger.
