Post Moisture Grounding out engine
25 kohler gdlt. When i run in the rain, spray, thick fog, etc (ie. wet environment), I'm having issues with water grounding out the ignition. The grounding plate on the starboard side near the bottom of the engine is where the moisture is causing the problems. Right now i have a thick coat of liquid electrical tape on the wires/plate and covered with a piece of plastic to shield the wiring harness/plate from water, and this is addressing the issue (albeit short term fix). Mr. Coco said there really isn't anything that i can do for a permanent fix and a new plate wouldn't help. I've cleaned all connections from coils, starter, key switch, battery, etc. Also made better ground wires where needed. Yet the problem still persists unless i have the plastic/liquid tape shielding the part. Does anyone know of a good solution to address this issue permanently?

thanks,
mm

The pic is taken from behind the starboard side of the engine (looking into the boat).

There are 3 wires leading to the plate. a hot blue wire and 2 neg white wires (one for each coil). The two negative wires are barely visible but the red lines indicate each of the 3 wires leading to the plate. You can't actually see the plate because of the plastic shield i have duct taped over the harness to keep it dry :D :D :D :D .
