 1654 tracker speeds
I am thinking about getting a mud motor for my grizzly tracker or maybe a whole new rig. How big of a surface drive do I need to get around 30mph out of it? Thinking about a mud buddy black death motor.

 Re: 1654 tracker speeds
I have that boat w/ a 36 PD. Me- 230 , dog 50 , hunting buddy 185 , son 50 and 2 dozen dekes , small ice chest and guns I get 24 mph according to my phones gps. I hunt a spot where the water is 1 - 2 ft deep. Never run it in deep water so I dunno how it'd do.

 Re: 1654 tracker speeds
Thanks, I am thinking of getting a 35 mud buddy surface drive. I am running a 25hp 2 stroke mercury right now. I just want to make sure I get a motor big enough I don't slow down. Right now I am running about 20mph with 3 adults, decoys, dog etc.

 Re: 1654 tracker speeds
Before you buy that motor, just thought id tell ya ive tried puttiin a mud motor on a tracker grizzly that i had, and i was very disapointed w/ its performace. I dont see getting 30mph a possibility, id say youll be lucky w/ 20mph empty in shallow and worse in deep water. If i were you id sell your boat and motor you have now and get a rig that is made to run a mud motor, you will be lot happier.

 Re: 1654 tracker speeds
I was thinking 4500, 5500, 6000 series. I figured the 35 stock mud buddy wouldn't be enough. And yes I would like a mud boat but I only have so much $$$$$$, One thing at a time. I hope to get a 1850something mud boat eventually for the motor I am getting.
