Is the plug lookn deal in the bottom of the float bowl a carb heater or something else also is it nessacary to be hooked up for the engine to run ?

The only part on that carb that has any wires going to it is the fuel solenoid. Yes, it has to be hooked up otherwise no fuel will be able to move through the carb.

It's called an anti-backfire solenoid. It is for motors (like a generator) that is set up to run a constant elevated rpm, and will keep the motor from backfiring when you turn the motor off.

Yes it must be plugged in in order for you to run your motor, however I highly recomend removing them and replacing it with a bolt. Because we idle our motors down before we turn them off there is no need for this solenoid, and it is just another electrical part that can/will fail when exposed to a marine enviroment.

I want to say it is a m6x100, but don't quote me on that. Might be a 4. I know they don't call metric fine thread, but that's what it is. I found the course thread one at a bunch of places. It was a PITA to find locally. Napa is where I found them, just remove the solenoid and take it with you.

Another option is to just remove the plunger and put the solenoid back in. I have a bolt in one engine and a solenoid with no plunger in another. Both ways accomplish the same goal. I could not find a bolt when I was working on the first motor. The second one, I had the time, so I drove around everywhere until I found it.

I dont know the size, but the briggs part # for the bolt is 691511 and it comes with a new compression ring to keep it from leaking. You should be able to pick it up at any briggs dealer/repair center.

could i do that to my 32 hp
