I've decided my boat builder, almost decided on boat. I believe I want a narrow front bateau, maybe 12-16" wide front. Either 46, or 48" bottom, 18'. Tapered chine etc. etc. etc. Not sure on the hunt deck, but I believe I want the extra usable space vs the hunt deck, but not definite.

My biggest issue is the motor. I know that they ALL (yes even the GDSD) have their place. And I run them all. I run vegetation where I feel the pro drive would be a big advantage. I make some long runs, where everything else has the advantage. I like to frog and bow fish and I believe the instant reverse would be beneficial for this. I also run areas where there are a lot of under water obstructions, stumps, and what not where I KNOW the GDSD is superior. (Not saying the others wont work, but I feel the GDSD is the closest of the 4 to a long tail. A long tail would be best)

If I had the room, Id get a 1640 crawfish skiff and a 23 LT for those areas, but that isnt feasible at this time.

I dont want to start a pissing match between GDSD, MB, PD and GTR owners, and the only things Im considering is
1. Selling my current rig and getting a GTR
2. Selling my current rig and getting a PD and adding heads and exhaust, and possibly cam
3. Selling current boat and keeping the GDSD and adding heads, cam and exhaust.

For thick vegetation, long runs, stumps, flooded timber, frogging, and bowfishing what would you do, and why?

Sounds like option 1. would be the least amount of money, if u not gonna put mods on it. But why would u mod the others and not the GTR. The GRT is nice if you need to hit reverse instantly, The Pro Drive takes a couple more moments to back. And the GDSD....forget about backing up.

I've had a GDSD and have a MB with mods now. The MB was a big step in the right direction. I run a lil bit of everything and the MB has done everything the GDSD would do. All thay said, If I buy a new one it will have reverse... Probably instant reverse

What ever you do dont hang a winch off the front of it........

So pd's are usually slower?

There are NO stock GTRs - so add another 2k if you go down that road - LOL
