 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
On one of the threads we were discussing a boat with a hunt deck with a PD. Someone claimed the PD tiller kicks badly when it hits something. Has that been an issue?

Crybabies!! It just takes a man to hold the tiller. Lol. Just about a year with mine and had no troubles with it when hitting submerged logs. Just don't get comfy with your leg under the tiller, learned that the hard way.

 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
He's right all other motors have free floating handles except pro drive, just keep legs clear and you'll be fine

 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
Can you change the twist throttle to a lever? I think the reverse feature offsets the fixed tiller issue. Sho don't want to break a leg though...

Only people with little girl hands have problems with the twist throttle.

 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
Same opinion here. PD will be closest to driving an outboard. Very easy on long runs. IMO no need to switch to a squeaze throttle. The twist grip makes it a lot easier to run at half or 3/4 throttle. I recommend it.

 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
real easy driving motor but there is a learning curve if you run stumps. i am used to floating handleas and the first tme that motor flipped up and the tiller felt like it broke my leg and learned to sit with my legs facing the front of the boat. other then that its all good
p.s. it is very fun to plane the boat out in reverse

 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
there is only one way to run it. LIKE YO STOLE IT. The tiller will only hit you leg once before you figure out how to stand to avoid it. the twist throttle just takes a little while to get used to it. At first your hand will cramp but it will pass

 Re: Pro Drive 36 experiences?
Have owned MB motors with floating handle and now have a PD. A floating handle can also whack your leg pretty bad if you hit underwater obstacles. Either way, keep your leg(s) out from under the tiller.
I originally had my PD on a low transom boat. Standing / driving I had to stoop over a bit to drive. After converting to a high transom boat and PD I find stand-up driving comfortable.
I originally had my PD on a hunt deck boat and had to use a tiller extension. Took it off when I went to a standard hull.
