 Boat cleaning???
Takin my boat to the coast this weekend hopefully to catch some reds and trout. I have 1754 gtb wonderin what the best way to clean all the salt water out from under the floor and what not. Don't want the salt to eat a hole in my hull so I wanna be sure I clean it out very well. What do some of y'all do?

 Re: Boat cleaning???
Aluminium boats have been running the coastal waters for many moons. It's saltwater not fuking acid!!! Wash it with fresh water and be careful car washes use harmful chemicals that can eat holes in boats and make your tires turn into jelly! Well water is hard and may dent your boat when sprayed at high pressure. I would use bottled water and a 100% cotton damp cloth.

 Re: Boat cleaning???
dont wash it at all, that salt water with ad character to your rig. It will take a couple of trips in salt water to really see and damage to your rig and it will only be on your exhaust. I mean you eat salt right? does it mess you up?

 Re: Boat cleaning???
I spray my rig down 100% with fresh water. From top to bottom. Boat, Motor & Trailer. The only thing I see on aluminum boats is pitting where the bunk boards of the trailer touch the aluminum hull. Carpet is the worst thing for an aluminum boat. It holds the moisture against the hull. I am switching my bunks to the plastic caps that McClain sells. You just take the carpet off and screw these plastic covers on the 2x4's. It keeps the water from sitting on the hull and thus prevents future or further pitting.

 Re: Boat cleaning???
I understand washing with fresh water I live in Florida and have clean other boats but not like mine with the false floor just a little worried about salt water staying under the floor and not washing out. Trying to take as much care of my boat as possible. But I guess y'all just dump a bunch of water under the floor and hope it goes out?

 Re: Boat cleaning???
I haven't had any problem with the boat, but have had rusting on the motor kind of bad. Fittings on the hydraulics and shit like that..
