Is it possible after you muffler goes to rust to sandblast it and paint it with high heat header paint?

Possible? Yes. Will it hold up? Probably not.

In the past I've sprayed Harley Davidson exhaust with a high heat paint after powdercoating 200hrs and counting and the customer is still happy with it I'm impressed myself Using a matte colour will give you the best results

Use the VHT exhaust paint. Make sure you follow the directions, though. Works good if you follow the directions and do it right.

Re: Painting muffler? Is it possible?
Painting along with other chit has been tried by alot of folks over the years including myself. Didnt work for me or any of the others that I can recall. Best thing I found is to spray with WD40 after every trip. Even with stainless I found it best when new to get them hot and spray them down with WD. Just like seasoning a cast iron pot.
