 Green Mallard?
I have heard this report from a couple people, but no one can verify if it is true or not. Anyone here know the truth? http://www.louisianasportsman.com/lpca/ ... b3fdf769e2

 Re: Green Mallard?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cayuga_DuckWe shot some kind of hybrid a couple years ago. Had colors in it like that, but it was the size of a goose. Maybe a cross between one of those and a muscovy or something.

 Re: Green Mallard?
That is by far the most unique mallard I have seen. Have killed some crossed w/ pintails and even widgeon but solid green...NO. That bird would look awsome cupped up in your spread w/ a bright sun behind your back. It's ashamed to think this but the other ducks probably laffed and called him names and wouldnt let him join in their duckbyrd games.

 Re: Green Mallard?
The one we shot was on one of our wma's. No tame ducks anywhere close by that I know of, def none on the lake we were at. It was right after a huge front and there were more birds there than I had ever seen. Flew in with a wood duck. I'm guessing it got caught in a storm somewhere and wound up in a flock of wild ducks. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7110&hilit=+wtfviewtopic.php?f=7&t=7089&hilit=+wtf

I saw it in a text the week before new years.
Supposedly it was killed on the wax.

 Re: Green Mallard?
Very unique indeed! i killed this one back in 2001 in a flooded Milo field. Believe it or not, there were two flying together and we knocked the other one down but never could find it. After talking to a biologist, he said it was color pigmentation that causes it on this bird i shot.

It's a Cayuga cross. The only difference in that bird is the bill, cayuga bills are almost black. http://www.google.com/search?q=cayuga+d ... d=0CDYQsAQ

 Re: Green Mallard?
I've heard a few stories about that bird too. I received that same picture in a text message from one of my buddies that hunt up here where I do. His friend claimed to have killed it over next to the MS river. I think there is something funny about this one
