There must be thousands of mallards in LA now. We need 90 day duck season!! I'd take 4 duck limit and 90 days over 6 and 60.

happens every year, you should be use to this by now. about another 2-3 weeks and we will have more ducks in one day than we did all year.

We didn't have but a few ducks on our lease all season went for a lil ride yesterday to check on the camp makes you sock to see as many birds as they had there

No kidding ran my boat on test ride yesterday and blew around 1200 green out of one are spots crazy. They weren't here all year like that

Because people were out running around everyday and trying to kill them. The lakes would have birds like that if they closed down the season for 10 days in December and people werent riding around scouting.

I dunno, makes me wonder if they should not adjust the season to be later.. at least for us down south. You are right though, no pressure makes the birds group up and less wary..

Ducks were everywhere this weekend, I agree the lack of pressure has some to do with it.
There hadn't been ducks all season in these places though, they weren't pressured in these areas.

One week in the first week of November, don't open it again until around Christmas to run until mid February.

Ducks finally showed on our place the last weekend of the season. Pretty sure they were new. I checked one hole and I bet there were 125-150 wood ducks sitting on it.

I know it sounds wierd, but maybe we need another break in the season around mid January, so we can hit them in early February? We are covered up here in Central TX. I bet I saw 500 Gray Ducks on a lake near the city. Just sitting there laughing, knowing they are safe..

I have to agree...another split for 2 weeks then we would have another 2 weeks to hunt early febuary. I just got back from a goose hunt in Southern kansas....before Friday there were mallards pintail and widgeon EVERYWHERE!! Right before everything froze the ducks started leaving for lack of open water.....on my way back as soon as we got into oklahoma all the way to east Tx. there were birds in every pothole along the highway!

This blast of cold air has happened the last 2 years at this exact time, the birds do not have a reason to come here any more with pothles of water everywhere and more Corn and milo on the ground than the law should alow!!

The old time farmrs i know up there all tell me 10-15 years ago they remember brutal winters for at least 3 months and there were no birds to speak of......they say it's warming temps that have kept the ducks farther north.

I like it how it is, lol. Times get tough and the wannabes slow down their hunting alot, and I double my scouting and still kill.

I wasn't tryin to be a smart ass Owen but that's what i meant. The ducks just don't be seem to make the trip down to the coast unless we really get a good freeze further north....that's why i wouldn't be oppossed to a extra split at the end of the season because we normally end up having a good push of cold air within 2 weeks of closing......however i don't agree with extending the days and lowering the limits, that would only be wanted by people who don't ever kill limits i mean come on Guidry there are other places to hunt than Henderson if your not killing ducks don't take it out on everyone else.....Scout and find em!

We killed the chit out of them up to the split and for a couple weeks after it opened back up. It fell off to basically nothing by january. I have seen this trend for years now. I know there are birds here at that time but not in the numbers that show up by begining of february. Tons of birds here now and we dont have enough backwater in NW LA to have kept them all hidden had they been here all along. I know where most of it is and I looked. I can usually get a solo limit or close to it by hunting holes later but would be hard pressed to get 2-3 limits if I take guest. I would rather the season start as is with no split. We miss a good front or 2 every split and in this area flight birds are everything. Run it hard for 60 days and be done with it. Ill hunt some other state if i didnt get enough.

I dunno, seems like we got em before, and pretty good after the split. But by January they are all at the coast. Tons of ducks down south near Brownsville... little or no pressure.
I would almost rather have the opening later, it is usually too hot Nov. 1.
Maybe some rain would help us out, TOLA is pretty dry still.

Now you see this is exactly why it's so hard on Commercial fisherman! No one can stick together and everyone has different ideas!!

I say we better leave it the way it is because all this would do is raise a law that would probably be disliked by most or all and i'm not up for that.....could turn out to shorter season or smaller bagswho knows!!

We better just thank the lord we can kill 6 for 60 and leave it tht way lol.
