Finally settled on a new rig! ExcelF4 w/ MBBD 5500
Mud Buddy Black Death 5500 Excel F4 18x54 I got the 2012 with .125 5086 aluminum so I am hoping I will have no issues with the stumps and timber we have where I hunt. So far I have run with 3 people around 180 pounds each and reached 33 with a cooler in deep water no wind and glassy.. I have hunted the boat with 2 and 3 people with full load of gear and had no problems pushing through the football field size patches of sawgrass and flooded timber here in South Carolina.
this is the only picture I have at the moment but I will try to add more soon
-Robert

Re: Finally settled on a new rig! ExcelF4 w/ MBBD 5500
Well the results may be a little off because it was a river.. though it looks still the current still had to have some influence on the speed. Plus I am using a gps app on the droid so it may be somewhat off. Overall the boat is surprisingly fast and I am very happy with it. As soon as I get a better GPS and can hit the lake I will post new numbers. As for now duck season is more important

I like running 33 with a load, you get places quicker

Re: Finally settled on a new rig! ExcelF4 w/ MBBD 5500
I got a chance to run the boat with the same load minus the current and using an actual GPS. It was averaging 28 bumping a little higher when i hit shallow spots. The current must have really been pushing me the first run. So far the boat does everything I ask of it and I have only gotten really stuck once. I do wish I had gotten the winch built in, that seems like a useful option since I don't know many folks around here with mud rigs.

X2 on that duramax. He should be all over 25 in the shallows. Which is where I ride 95% of the time at 3/4 throttle

Re: Finally settled on a new rig! ExcelF4 w/ MBBD 5500
i mean it runs pretty good. i havent really ran an empty boat though. ive always had somethin in it. if i go this weekend i will get some speeds. but if the conditions are right i think i could hit low 30s. but alot of time it wants to bounce of the rev limiter.

Re: Finally settled on a new rig! ExcelF4 w/ MBBD 5500
I know what you saying bud. Since Sept my boat stayed loaded down with dekes, bag, trash, etc. I cleaned it out this past week, took it for a spin and forgot what it felt like to ride at 30mph
