Post Vaccum sealer
i used on the other day. just a cheapy but worked pretty dang good to seal up some chicken and fish. what type do you guys recommend? i'm sure that some of you have used them before. i want one that will last and makes a good seal. the little one that i used wouldn't last long at all and it diddnt vac enough to get all the air out.

sheet, they just as expensive as a ziploc. plus when you use it for fish and shrimp you don;t have to worry about water leaking in your freezer. less room too. i don't have all your money cope!!! i gots a small freezer....

I had the food saver brand as a Christmas gift. It would always leave a pin hole in the seal where it wouldn't melt completely. Exchanged it for a new one and it did the same thing. Had deer meat in an icechest in ice water and burned it up from it sucking up blood and water on the 1st deer. Tried to dry off the meat 1st but would still get blood in it. Wasn't worth the trouble to me.

Dry your meat as much as possible with paper towels. Fold a clean paper towel and put in the bag just above your meat; seal as usual. The paper towel absorbs the liquid and keeps it from getting to the seal. Better yet, if you can get those butcher kotex's from your local meat shop, use them. Something to absorb the liquid!! :D

Foodsaver brand has worked great for me. I got drunk one night and messed up the foam seal on the bottom half of the sealer with superglue. I tried to order the $2.00 part from them for months but my model was old and they never got them back in stock. I went on Ebay to look for the part but I found my exact unit for $30 instead. It has worked great and now I have a backup to use for parts the next time I get a little crazy with the superglue.
