Post Trailering question
Trailering long distance, driving rain for an hour. Do you cover your motor? I have the 100mph cover, but seems lik the sharp stuff on the engine/exhaust will rip the cover eventually?

2Nd question/observation is that the bow bounces without a strap down from the bow eye to the trailer (no just the front wench hooked up). As compared with my fiberglass boats, seems like this bouncing will stress the aluminum around the bow eye. Valid concern,?

100mph cover is made just for trailoring, on second question, take a look at your bunk boards and get the boat to sit flat and then adjust the height of the winch to the boat. My last boat had that problem and I ended up witha cracked bottom. Your welcome. Lol

The SS has such a long rake, only about 1/2 sits on the bunks. That what makes I so damn fast... Lol.
As to #1, guess I will cover it! Thx bro!

If you have the air intake covered up the motor should be fine. If I had one of those nice covers, I would use it. It probably would be better for it in the long run to be completely covered, but I've towed mine for hours in the rain with no ill effects.

The more bounce you can eliminate the better. Be sure that what you are seeing is the boat bouncing and not just the trailer flexing. How the boat is loaded and the angle of the bow rake can have a bearing on how it rides on the trailer. I had a flat bow stop added between my winch post and the end of my flat skids to give the bow some suppport.

Ratcheting down the bow can have two benefits. It can peg the boat against the supports to eliminate bounce. It can also help the boat stay put in a collision. However, you need to be sure the boat is properly supported or ratcheting it down has the potential to hasten metal fatigue.
