 Must be living right
Was just telling the wife on the way to dinner that I needed to go catch me a few turtles since its been a long while since I have ate any. Got home and my neighbor tells me he caught a big turtle and asked me if I wanted it. Fills up the bottom of a 55 galon drum.

 Re: Must be living right
How you cook it? Heard of turtle soup but can ya fry it? I'd try it if someone cooked it that knew how to do it. As far as going out and getting me a turtle to cook...that's a nogo.. In a couple wks when I get my boat together me and a buddy are gonna go try to put the hurt on some frogs tho.

 Re: Must be living right
We fry alot of our turtle. We also make burgoo with turtle meat. google burgoo you will like this soup. Ask T al and his dad Big Al. We make about 10-15 gals each fall with all of the meat left in the freezer and the garden left overs. You guys who cook will really like burgoo.

 Re: Must be living right
I used to ketch them with freswater green eals, because that seems to stay on the line better.I ketch the I ponds and in the swamp.use just a line tied to a tree with about a one inch cut eal.Just throw the line out and make sure it hits the bottom.

Don't lump me in with all the Yankees who don't like turlte, that is some of the best shit to eat outta the river, we use to be able to catch them in the winter and keep them down in the cellar alive, now they put a season on them and it doesn't start till July

 Re: Must be living right
I think there should be an over/under slot limit on those turtles shell size so that those big boys could propagate the species. Bet there aren't too many that size left out there. Besides, if you want rice and gravy get you some stew meat from the store and have at it! Not much difference in taste!!
