 mud buddy to a gatortail?
well ive been thinkin bout sellin my boat. i got a buddy who likes it and said he would buy it if i sold it. i run an excel with a 35hp mud buddy as of now. its alright i reckon. i dont really like the boat though. its only .100 gauge material and its just to thin and the way its setup just aint for me. i bought the boat used as it was my first surface drive so i got my use out of it so im lookin to move on to somethin different. been thinkin bout gettin me a gator tail. 1746 with the 35gtr. any of yall went from mud buddy to gator tail? and what do yall have to say bout the switch?

Re: mud buddy to a gatortail?
I know of MANY who've made the switch...none of which regret doing so.
Going from no reverse to having instant reverse will change your life forever.

Traitor haha. In all seriousness if MB doesn't get their reverse rolling out the plant I'll be making the transaction as well.

Re: mud buddy to a gatortail?
i had 2 mudbuddys, one on a 1650 gator trax and the other on a 1744 geaux skiff.
i picked up my 1846 gtb with a 35 gtr and all i can say is "WOW". there is no comparison. the gtr trim is smoother and quieter and its alot easier to handle and with the shorter tiller you dont have to lean waaaay over to make that sharp right turn. i can say that i liked my mudbuddy and almost got another but i am very glad that i got the gtr, that reverse is the only way to go.

Re: mud buddy to a gatortail?
well thats good to know man! yea i hate leanin over the dang boat to make a turn. i wish mud buddy would make their tiller handle a little shorter! i really hope this dealer doesnt try and give me some outrageous price tomorrow when he calls me back!

Re: mud buddy to a gatortail?
just get on gatortail website and look on the prices from there. if hes a dealer he should be priced the same as the manufacturer if i had to guess, but then again, ive been wrong a time or two. lol.
on a side note, i was going to get a 1746, but i went with a 18'er with a huntdeck and am pretty happy with it so far.

Re: mud buddy to a gatortail?
I used to be one of the biggest MB cheerleaders here, but after getting my GT rig, I've been kickin myself in the ass for not making the swap sooner. Is reverse NEEDED? Absolutely not, but it's damn nice to have!!!! I'm truly amazed at how much I use the reverse, I guess I just never realized how much I used the ol push pole. If you're considering making the change, DO IT!!! If you're not considering it, you should be.
