A stock Carb will never flow enough air and fuel to feed the cam what it really needs, you'll never see the full potential. Plus They don't have the tune ability that a mikuni has. But hey build it how ever you want.

My 1854 with heads, cam,all by Hoyt and then a exhaust did pretty good, but 4 men and dog and gear plowed. Hoyt tuned the stock carb but it would die out when trying to idle down and dig in. Also would stall big time when trying to gas on it from idle. I wasn't impressed with stock carb.

If you do it at Dguidry's pace, it should be done by duck season, if you start now. If you work at a normal pace, you can have the whole thing done (all the mods) in an afternoon, start to finish.

There is nothing to these motors once you get inside them. Just go to the B pee S forum and look at the cam install sticky.
